Cutting Godfrey would save money. We can probably end up with a better safety and save cap space in the process.

The "sky is falling" people are really starting to get old. Godfrey will almost certainly be a post June 1st cut and Hardy will be signed to a long-term deal. We may not sign any marquee free agents, but we'll make moves.

As we stand right now we have 7 mill to use. 6 mill is the min you need to pay rookies. Cutting Godfrey clears 2 mill off the top of my head. So that's 3 mill to spend on FA. Forget top FAs that's not enough to sign bottom tier FAs.

It's hard to describe what makes Mitchell so perfect for this team, but that is exactly what it is - perfect. He has been our most intimidating safety since Minter. He, to me, was the most underrated player in the entire league this season and he was our heart and soul. Guys like him and Kraken are what made our defense so fugging tough. Yes, Keek is a leader, but you need a guy that's gonna talk some smack and bust people in the mouth too... guys that play on the edge. Mitchell is the epitome of that player. And he is rangy and much more of an athletic playmaker than given credit for.

i listed mitchell as a must re-sign. people here are acting like we are not losing an important piece of this defense. the man took over our secondary and flourished. He was a force, somebody to be feared but also a very heady player. I want him back more than Ginn.

With this attitude you should just stop reading and watching about the panthers. The season is over before it began right? Why live in misery about your favorite team? Or you could see how everything shakes out considering we still have superstars on our team with a taste of a winning record

The Redskins are just going to throw more money at him then we can.  Mitch is a good player, but he's replaceable.  I sort of though Mikell stood out the most towards the end of last year tbh.

 

I'd like to have Mitchell back, but we'll be fine without him.

A run stopping SS that isn't great in coverage isn't worth big bucks and can be replaced fairly easily. To me the ballhawk type safeties are the only ones worth giving a big contract to. I have a feeling the skins are going to give him 6-8 million a year (probably closer to 8) and we're better off putting that money in other areas.
