It's funny, in preseason last year there were threads talking about how Mitchell might not even make it through the season because of the way that he plays.

Now people can't stand the thought of losing him. Things change quickly. I don't want to see him leave either, but I don't think it will be the end of the world.

just be patient and let this all play out. there are still cuts to be made and restructures possible. i still think steve smith will not play at a 7 million cap hit next year. hardy might be extended a lot of possibilities. i still think we bring in one impact free agent at either WR or OT. We will see. We just won the NFC South and our biggest competition is ridding themselves of some valuable players. I am not ready to give up 2014

I haven't quoted you in awhile, and I don't recall you ever responding after quoting me yourself about this subject.

13 million in cap space was not going to be enough money to completely solve our offensive woes, while at the same time vastly improving on what we already had. We are in this current position offensively because of our previous GM's inability to add adequate starting talent to that side of the ball via the draft. Going on a spending spree in free agency by overpaying for offensive players while our pass rush disappears leaving our secondary exposed is not the solution.

Besides, FA has not even officially begun yet. Maybe at least wait, and see what Gettleman has planned before having a fit in every thread about a decision that's already been made?

Hardy's presence takes the pressure off the secondary, and allows Gettleman to hit the bargain bin again, which should in theory produce similar results.  Ginn had a tremendous year for us and his ST and timely plays will be missed, but Hardy is a beast and his motor and attitude helped mold this defense's personality in 13/14.

How are you going to replace those replaceable players when Hardy has all our money? Bit of a pickle there.

You know that's not what I said. Hardy is a valuable piece of the puzzle that we need if we want to make another push this season. If you watched the Seahawks defense dismantle the Broncos offense in the Super Bowl, then I shouldn't have to explain this to you. Ultimately if we are going to have sustained success, and finally have back to back winning seasons, we have to be able to add starters through the draft. That's what it comes down to. Being active in FA, and signing big names doesn't guarantee anything.

Well, if the Redskins want him and we let him hit free agency, he's as good as gone.  We all know Snyder will spend like a drunken sailor on shore leave.

If the redskins overpay for him, see ya. We can get another safety.

I would miss him on this team, but there is no sense getting into a bidding war for him, especially against the skins.

We'll see how much he wants to play for the Panthers, cause I'm sure Gman will offer him a decent contract, if he hasn't already.

Look, it's extremely early to be claiming that we're not attempting to replace and addressing our needs. Mitchell and Ginn are role players who were plugged into our system. I want them back too but others must be taken care of first.

We have two million right now to sign FAs and 8 draft picks.
