Our bread and butter is our pass rush. We lose Hardy, our secondary will automatically be 10x worse. Suck it up.

 

Johnson didnt do too bad when Hardy was not taking advantage of his and Stars double teams. Not my choice to make but we have 1 premier pass rusher locked down and a future premier DT and tons of holes everywhere else. Guess we see if playoff teams are made with just 7 mill to spend.

Going into last season who would you rather have? Mitchell, munnerlyn and Ginn or Hardy?

 

Prob Mitchell,Capt, and Ginn... Hardy was a good deal last season but Johnson is not avg and Hardy struggled without him. Now I would take Star over all of them any day. He was the cog that allowed both Johnson and Hardy to rush. Still teams are going to kill our secondary with the short pass once again because we are not upgrading but downgrading. Not a good thing.

I haven't quoted you in awhile, and I don't recall you ever responding after quoting me yourself about this subject.

13 million in cap space was not going to be enough money to completely solve our offensive woes, while at the same time vastly improving on what we already had. We are in this current position offensively because of our previous GM's inability to add adequate starting talent to that side of the ball via the draft. Going on a spending spree in free agency by overpaying for offensive players while our pass rush disappears leaving our secondary exposed is not the solution.

Besides, FA has not even officially begun yet. Maybe at least wait, and see what Gettleman has planned before having a fit in every thread about a decision that's already been made?

It's hard to describe what makes Mitchell so perfect for this team, but that is exactly what it is - perfect. He has been our most intimidating safety since Minter. He, to me, was the most underrated player in the entire league this season and he was our heart and soul. Guys like him and Kraken are what made our defense so fugging tough. Yes, Keek is a leader, but you need a guy that's gonna talk some smack and bust people in the mouth too... guys that play on the edge. Mitchell is the epitome of that player. And he is rangy and much more of an athletic playmaker than given credit for.

Point? G-Man was the architect behind that DL in New York. If there's something we all learned from that Giants squad, it's that you can't have too many pass rushers especially in a pass-happy league. You can complain all you want about losing second-tier players in Mitchell and Ginn but the key at times in creating a juggernaut isn't having a Pro Bowler at every position. The Giants enhanced their strengths and it paid off.

 

Im not complaining about losing second tier players as you call them. Im pointing out we are letting them go without being able to replace them. Just pointing out we are flushing this season to start anew in 2015.
