Explain this to me

He's doing the same thing people blame Hurney for

people blame hurney for handing out monstrously dumb contracts to running backs and injury prone linebackers and trading first round picks for the likes of everette brown and jeff otah

gettleman has done nothing like that and his cap moves this offseason are pretty standard for a team in our position.

It does come down to money and Gettlemen is in year 2 of the two year shithole that was created by his predesecsor.  If he duplicates what he did last year in FA, I assume we would all be okay with that....

2013 WR - Ted Ginn

2014 WR - Andre Roberts

2013 S - Mike Mitchell

2014 S - Kendrick Lewis/Chris Clemmons

2013 CB - Drayton Florence

2014 CB - Nolan Carroll/Mike Jenkins/Asante Samuel

Of Ginn and Mitchell, I reeeeallly hope we can ink Mitchell, but I feel like he will get a nice deserving 3-4 year deal that is too rich for our blood.  Like has been stated already, if GMan could sign these two back at what he wants to, I totally believe he would.

Good post I like the suggestions too.

What is the benefit, of doing nothing, when guys on one year deals have helped you go from 7-9 to 12-4, and you essentially piss on their effort by saying see ya later. We need to create an atmosphere where guys want to be, and where a person is valued and the team is not a group of mercs. I am disappointed, and next year we will not be .500, but at least Greg got paid.

I really hate being that guy, but, dude, if you want attention all you have to do is ask. You don't have to go overboard like this. There are plenty of folks around here willing to give you the attention you desire.

But hey, carry on. You can never be too early to fret about what is to come.

Good god, The Huddle is so insecure and whiny.

Thankfully, we have you to point it out. Every message board needs folks to point these things out. Otherwise we could have totally missed it.

It takes all kinds. Thankfully, we have plenty of all of them. Makes for good entertainment if you ask me.

I would like to point out. Last year at this time most were worried about what was to come. We had multiple holes and limited draft picks. If I remember correctly. Things worked out rather well last year.

If you trust in Gman, things may look brighter than if you don't trust Gman. Then again, if you don't trust Gman. Well...okay then. Fret away by all means.

All I know is Hardy better play his goddamn ass off this year and not regress once he pockets the loot. If we have to mortgage the farm to retain him then his numbers better reflect it.

20+ sacks would be a blessing. And he better show up in our next playoff game.

It's going to be another year of sitting back and letting teams soak up the top talent on huge contracts. No one will take Dave's cheap deals day 1, everyone is looking to NOT make a minimum salary. The one's that have to settle for those contracts will have a place on our roster; just like last year. 7 mil to spend and no moves to swing last year's over 16 mil to under 17 mil are in our future.

We have a strong defensive core and DBs get the benefit from having a DPOY and 59 sacks.

It's a situation where mediocre players look a lot better because of the superstars they are surrounded by.

Not saying Mitchell isn't worth hanging on to, but who's to say there isn't a better option out there at the same price.

It's a business and it looks really good when a franchise can boost a role players stock the way the Panther's defense is able to do.

Just look at how the Patriots churn their players out. Once their guys value outweighed their ability, they'd get next man up or trade them for draft picks.

This, 100%. Gettleman knows what he's doing and understands you don't have to spend a lot of money to get good players, especially ones that can come here and play on our defense. Im actually excited to see who he brings in.
