Mitchell, Ginn may hit the market

Mr. Scot

I am not blaming Hardy at all. I respect that he has earned a big payday and will now see it. I also am not saying he is not worth a big contract. I just see him as a very expensive luxury that we really can't afford in our cap position.

I think the overall team would be better off spending that 13m on a LT and CB than a second stud DE. But, that is just my opinion.

I got blasteded for making such statements on here. How dare you try to use logic and reason.

The dude was arguably our best receiver last year... Did you even watch? His deep threat was underutilized because of our offensive scheme but it allowed smitty and Olsen to get open many times.

His deep threat is a nonfactor if he doesnt catch the ball

Mitchell would be a loss he bought an attitude to the secondary, and they pretty much got by on that and a good front seven all season, let's be honest there isn't a big deal of talent back there, but then again when we signed him last year most of us did think what's he going to do and he suprised us all with his play, maybe we will find another guy like that.

Ginn I'm not so hot on, yes he improved out return game but with the garbage we have had doing it previously I think any kind of average/good returner would be a help, he did make some good important catches, obviously the patriots touchdown, but he can be replaced easily if he's looking for money, is like us to pick up Dexter McCluster, younger guy who can return and be a depth receiver has speed to burn, I'd say he's a straight out replacement.

Godfrey is not a favorite of mine.

He is not a big thinker out there and is a terrible communicator.

I've never seen one player so out of position on almost every play in my life.

Why Hurney signed him to the contract he did is just a mystery to me.

^^^^This.

I don't even know why Godfrey still has a job.

godfrey is mitchell insurance.(thats if he takes a huge pay cut)

3 mill per seems to number, thats steep for the panthers.

marty herniay gets most of blame and some finally figured out jerry rich is part of problem too. BUT john fox deserves part of the blame too, he wanted two studs at RB and herniay got them. fox didnt want to draft a early round QB, they didnt. etc etc. marty, john, and jerry each have a part in these contracts.

All you people wanting Hardy to be gone don realize how terrible our defense would become if any of our front-7 players got injured. Take out Hardy and then lose another of our starters and we are looking at another losing season.

Hardy is a cornerstone player, he's young and just coming into his prime. He's insurance not only for our team but also a hedge to keep from having to play against him.

You keep the players that elevate your mediocre players. It's way easier to find, replace or even to upgrade mediocre players than it is to find elite players.

Yes, we need OL, WR and DB players. Out of those needs, most teams only game plan for the WR position. We can run offensive plays away from the weak side of the line. We lose our ability to get to the QB and we have nothing that makes us elite.

Having a stud RB stable is going to pay off big this season, in my opinion. When was the last time we had all our backs healthy? The running game opens up all the other aspects of the playbook and takes pressure off the defense and QB. Not to mention it takes pass rushers out of the game, controls the clock, wears out the opposing defense and keeps Cam from getting hit and lessens turnover potential.

Cam is most effective from the play action and Deangelo is a great weapon in space via the pass...not to mention his blocking ability, which he gets less credit for than he deserves.

Being able to have both Stewart and Deangelo in the backfield, in situational plays, is a nightmare to have to defend as you can go up the gut, use the sweep, option or screen pass (which is deangelos specialty in my opinion.) Tolbert and Cam are beasts on third and short.

Anyway, I'm just really hoping that we could have one of, if not the best rushing attacks in the league. Our rushing game was mediocre last year without Stewart and I think that will improve, with or without a stud LT...simply because of the wrinkles Stewart adds. Add that to one of the top front-7 defenses and I like our chances in any game against any foe.

The Redskins are another team that has interest in Mitchell. If it comes down to a bidding war between Philly and Washington he is going to get a lot of money it sucks we really need to keep him but if its a bidding war between Philly and WAS its a battle we cannot win. That said we need to do what we can to retain Mitchell.

DG did a good job with a LIMITED budget last season as a new gerneral manager. He now has year of being the last voice (besides Mr. Richardson). This is what we as Panther fans have asked for, a GM who reacts more with his head than his heart. NOW we need to wait to see what he can do.
