Panthers Interested In Eric Decker and Hakeem Nicks

I might be in the minority that doesn't think Decker will get top $(well maybe from Indy's GM who is nuts)

I think that with a deep draft and teams wary of Decker being a part/product of Peyton's system/greatness, that he won't get that top $.

Not saying he'll come to the Panthers but I think he'll go to a decent team getting top WR #2 kind of money.

Worth saying again. Riley Cooper has not had a 1,000 yard season yet, and got $25 million. Decker had two back to back.

I see virtually no chance that he doesn't get paid substantially.

one guy probably won't, tho i think his production from this last year can be replaced by one guy.

overall, the cap space allows us to upgrade the corps as a whole in a way we might not have been able to. we might take a step backward as far as the impact from on  player is concerned, but overall i think that cam will enter next year and the following years for sure th a better cast of pass catchers.

smith is my all time favorite panther, but i knew that this moment could be coming. i wish that it wasn't working out like is, but when you give an aging/old WR that kind of money, you kind of set yourself up for this possibility.

i don't like the way it looks things are shaking out, but honestly i think at this point there's not much else that can be done. i wanted smith to leave on his own terms, but the panthers are bigger than smith. one of the serious flaws that hurney had was clinging to the past at the expense of the future. we needed to get away from that, and, unfortunately this is part of the bitter taste of that medicine.

It's a big gamble, that's all there is to it. I just hope that there is a solid plan in place.

why not just rebuild your corps and take advantage of available talent that will be here for longer? we can add a couple vet Wrs who are good and young and draft a couple. we aren't limited in our options.

i see the re- building at WR, that i thought was coming last offseason in full swing.

and if Smitty is gone. getting a couple vets ,IS A MUST. we would be in awful shape. got to have vets to teach the rookies/king mcnutt.

EDIT

He's only making $10 mil guaranteed over 5 years. Not a bad deal at all.

Just have to wait and see on Decker.

I don't think it's fair to poo on Eric Decker (not saying you are, but others have) because he played with Peyton, but there are all sorts of excuses made for Hakeem Nicks who played with a two time Super Bowl champion for 5 seasons. I wouldn't pay Decker huge, but he's good.

I'm not pooing on Decker. Just saying that teams might be weary of how much of him is a product of Peyton Manning.

Believe me I stopped reading when you said "at this point in smith career"

You have a low football iq and you just constantly regurgitate garbage... (Albeit dumbing down the grammar to retard level)

Dude I really wish one of the mods would ban you. All you do is pick on people on how they post. Dude grow up. No one cares. Move on and stop posting on my posts. No one care accept you. So good bye and move along. Your nothing more then just a troll. I must stop feeding you. Get back under your bridge.

to an extent it was a gamble either way. when that much of your cap is going to an older WR that plays with that much intensity, takes  hits he does, and gets into the number of scuffles he does, its a risk. he's been healthy for a few years and i have thought it was only a matter of time  before serious injury comes and at hia gae, you don't recover as quickly. that is only part of it, though.

another risk is waiting another year to bring in the vet WRs we need going forward. we can't count on next year having better options. we have to act now, but the tough thing is that its nearly impossible to do that without cutting some big money somewhere.

it's not an easy situation to deal with, but i have to think that looking forward and doing what's necessary now to make us legit contenders for years to come is the best course to take, even if it costs us a couple of smitty's last years in the league.
