Panthers Interested In Eric Decker and Hakeem Nicks

I do not understand the Decker hate.

Me neither, even in 2011 he had 8 TD's with Orton and The Golden Calf of Bristol. Not to slight Smitty but when's the last time he had 8 TD's in a season, 2006? At 6'3" he is a great target in the redzone. Its not like he was some scrub that Manning made a hero out of. He had talent coming out of the draft and is still relatively young at 26.

The question is how many targets will he get here? Will we still play as conservatively?

so you think cutting smith would give the $$ to sign the both of them? You're delusional! Wo would only recoup a/b 2 million dollars by doing it & we'll still be paying him 3 mill over the course of the season. Stop w/ all this it's time to move on crap when you clearly don't even know what "moving on" from him actually means. Nicks said he grew up watching Smith & I doubt he would even still wanna come here if we cut him. The best option would be to keep him, put him in he slot, & make Nicks the #1. Decker is out of the ? Either way. there's no "hoping" he won't want a lot of $ cuz if he didn't he would jus stay where he is

they should ask smith who he would want to sign as a wr, perhaps he would adjust his money willingly if he got a guy that could actually help him reach his "stats" goals. Smith wants a ring, he wants 15,000 yards, he wants records. The guy is still a keeper, but we all know he has been a solo act for a long time. If he had been on a team with a great qb and some help, he would already have his ring and records.

Yes, yes we will.

Shula is not going to change because of personnel. He has downfield burners and never used them. He has Cam Newton and made him a pocket passer throwing check downs and short passes.

decker hate, atleast for me is this. hes a #2 WR thats going to get stud #1 moneyz. peyton, like breesus can make average players look great and inflate their numbers. i will say he put good numbers with terrible qbs. plus it seems he doesnt mind blocking. is that worth 9+ million per? welll not for me, but hes earned the right to be a FA and the market is ALWAYS BAT POO INSANE early on. truly its not his fault, some team is going to make him rich.

most panthers fans know the cap issues, they may have a different opinion if the panthers had plenty of cap space. "decker signs with the panthers for 5 years 60 million" panther fan-"great signing great player derp derp".OR "decker signs with the raiders for 5 years 60 million" panther fan- "hes overrated, peyton made him. too weapons no one covered him, didnt want him anyways derp derp blah"

i agree w most of this. The prt a/b having a diff QB & already having a ring is debatable. But IMO this is the yr! We were literally a few offensive piece short last season of getting it done. Gettleman jus needs to aquire the rest of the pieces & then give it another go. Further weakening what was arguably the worst part of your game is just stupid. I don't see him doing it but who knows

Interesting stats.

2013 - 55 deep passes 12 catches

2012 - 58 deep passes 24 catches

deep passes are anything 21 yards or over.

Ginn caught 3 for 123, 3 tds

Smitty caught 2 for 59, 1 td

Olsen caught 2 for 51, 0 tds

LaFell caught 5 for 167, 4 tds

Its not all about burners, you have to catch it too, our most productive guy was arguably our slowest guy.

So even with your stats would you argue that our offense is as explosive as it once was before Shula? I mean I only watch every single game I may not know what I'm talking about but the offense looks drastically more impotent than before.

1 year dip? did you even read the freaking post, it's a steady decline over 3 years. and it's not the hay day of his career, this is what happens to older NFL players and you're acting like it's an anomoly? WOW denile is a river that you are so far up you cant even see civilatation anymore.

dude only thing I canfigure about you is that your some 17-18 year old kid that really started to pay attention to football within the last five years and have never seen a players career cycle before. because to be that ignorant and litterally straight up day dreaming about Smiths career going forward is mind boggling unless you have seriously never seen it before.

double post

1 year dip the others were 1000 plus seasons.2 out of 3 years were 1000 plus yd seasons. This season would be the only one you could consider  noticeacble decline and yes it is just one year so there is no trend yet.As for your post, just because you posted it doesn't make it correct as we can see from this post.your posts are in a steady decline more than Smiths career.

like I said before , I read your posts I am just not very impressed with them.Whining and making up crap about a poster doesn't make your posts any better either.

Explosive? No, but it is interesting we did take a similar amount of deep shots, I wasn't expecting those numbers to be nearly that close. But what is interesting is the success rate, Cam either overthrew or we dropped a lot more. I imagine it was a bit of both.

I'm not saying Shula isn't more conservative, he is. But that conservatism worked, we were ranked 5th in drive success rate.

If we signed, Decker or Hicks, kept Smitty and drafted another WR highly, would the leading receiver still remain the TE?

If we're going to have more deep passes/routes we're going to have to make sure the Oline is improved quite a bit too.
