You would think he's Jesus the way you people talk around here. He's just a man, capable of mistakes and wrong decisions just like you and me

Yeah I agree this board acts like they d let gettleman sleep in the same bed as there kids. All this trust and the guy has only been around one season. Fact is he has no track record. You need more than one season before you see patterns and can trust anything.

I can say this and feel very confident about it:

There is little to no chance that Smith or Godfrey play for the Panthers in 2014 under their current contracts.

I am also concerned that Gettlemen has made comments that suggest he thinks Smitty's place in the lineup is denying a young player the opportunity to develop.  I do not see him returning.   I give it about a 20% chance or less.

Godfrey?  I give him NO chance unless he plays for the vet minimum.  Have you seen his contract, Hurney lovers?  It is ridiculous.

The bottom line with Gettlemen is that he was put in a position to be a bad guy.  These contracts are crazy.  Godfrey?  Stewart?  DWill?  I even question the Kalil and CJ money.  He is having to guarantee money to get us under the cap.

Gettlemen's test is now, but he gets an A for what he did last year.  What move has he made that you question?  He is going to piss some folks off very soon, but that is because there are so many ways to look at the picture.  He has to look at production, cap hit, and future impact on production and cap hit.  Emotion and loyalty are for the fans.

Marty rewarded players for past performance. He spent Fort Knox to keep the core of a team that went 2-14.  Regardless of how you feel about Gettlemen, if you like Hurney, you weren't paying attention.  Some say, "but he drafted Cam and TD." Yes, he got parts of his job right on occasion.

They said its early Snake.

They said stop being pessimistic Snake.

One more damn time! Rebuilding year, so get use to losing again.

Is all of this negativity because Hardy was tagged? That is the only thing that has happened so far.

Whilst I'm not going to be drawn into joining some of the doom and gloom merchants, I do expect this year to be a season of mixed results and transition, any kind of winning record would be a good result, it's difficult to replicate 12-4 with basically a whole new o-line and receiving corps, I mean were not talking about one or two peices here, were talking four or five new linemen who haven't played together before and whole load of new guys stepping in to be weapons for cam, but I trust our gm will find adequate talent it may just take some time to get it all going, that's why some fans need to curb there ambitions for this team this year but by no means is it all bad news lol.

Chandler and Kalil will be back. Silatolu and Kugbila will return from injuries and we aren't sure what we have with them. Really, Gross and Maybe Wharton are the ones we will lose that will hurt us at the same time. However, if we get a solid LT in FA or the draft, to go along with the return of Silatolu and Kugbila (who is basically an 8th draft choice for us this year) our OL should be fine.

That is, unless, Bell starts at LT, in which all hell breaks loose.

Who knows what were gona get from kugbila, guys not even done full pad training I don't think, amini is an ok starter, but your still going to have possibly a new LT and a new RT, the line will have no chemistry as it's based on new signings or players returning from injury, as for the receivers it's going to be a totally new lineup, especially if smitty goes, cam will need to build up chemistry quickly with these guys, maybe and hopefully he has built up a good bit of that in practise with mcnutt & king who I believe will be #3 and #4 guys for us this coming season, add I that two more pickups in the draft or FA cam will be throwing to people he has no chemistry with, fans will need to be patient that's all I'm saying but we are building a sustainable team who can compete every year, these things take time though.

Well, I for one don't know what the hell to expect this coming season, but I trust that we'll be better off in the long run.  By tagging Hardy, the team looks as though it will change significantly. Add in Gross hanging up his cleats, and Smitty actually being a candidate for the chopping block, this may be a year of growing pains.  The wise man will realize and accept this, if not expect it.

Hopefully G-man will again be able to pan out a couple of nuggets of gold in FA, we can get lucky in the draft by having a day one guy with with significant skills fall to us, as well as add near-starting material on days two and three, and Rivera can keep those that we do have fired up. After all, we do have a fearsome front seven and  a more experienced Cam Newton on offense. Hopefully that will be enough to keep us from stumbling backwards significantly on our way to sustainable excellence.

Good post.

Fans will have to be patient with so many changes being made in key positions this year.

I don't dislike him. I was just stating we only have limited info on him to go by. So i m not going to be like he will do the right thing and can't make mistakes. I agree hurney was bad.
