THE Todd McShay mock 1st round: WR?

I can see STL taking Jake over Clowney. They have Quinn and Long already, drafted Brockers early too. Then they have Fishers connection to Bruce and its almost a no brainer. Saffold is gone and they could easily take Lee, Cooks or Benjamin with their second 1st, maybe even Evans or Ebron. RG3, the gift that keeps on giving.

If Bradford can even be a middle tier qb STL is going to be stacked next year thanks to the foreskins. They are also in a great position to trade down again and still get their man. That division is going to be brutal.

The shocker would be if STL snagged Johnny Football. Bradford seemed to be having a good year before the ACL. But his win percentage and Y/A are horribly low. 18 - 30 win loss record and a career 6.3 Y/A is near the bottom of the pile.

If the Rams are sitting there will Clowney on the board, then its gonna be an auction for sure with most likely the Falcons moving up.

The Rams have the pass rush covered so look for deals to be made.

Yeah, that's a real danger.

With ATL and TB in dire need of some pass rush they could both be in play. The only possitive I can think of is the cost to do so.

I'd be extremely happy if the Panthers drafted Benjamin.  Let's face it, Cam is a tall QB.  Sometimes he overthrows his receivers because he is so tall.  Having a player like Kelvin Benjamin at 6'5 would be such a huge weapon not only in the red zone, but he could be a deep threat too.

Lol. No. Footwork.

I agree and disagree.  The guy with all the measurables and physical tools you could ever want happens to play for us, and his name is Cam Newton (I know we all hate his overexposure, but the next best is Luck).  I don't think Bortles will be a awful as Gabbert is, Gabbert was literally made up as a franchise QB by the media about a month before the draft with no professional scouting done on him.  I was hearing a decent amount of noise about Bortles when the college season was about halfway done (from the same sources who made some noise about EJ Manuel last year).

Manziel is going to surprise people in the NFL.  I think with Bridgewater he will have some mediocre/poor years until the team who drafted him surrounds him with a solid supporting cast.  I think he has a great understanding of the game, but he is going to need a solid Oline and weapons to make him shine because he just doesn't have the athleticism to dominate without it.  Johnny Football isn't an athletic freak, but he's scrappy as hell and will be able to make enough "WTF just happened" plays to garner national attention right off the bat.

You are 100% on Gabbert. Every year the media needs to talk about the next class of QBs. ESPN is not going to spend 5 weeks talking about CBs and LBers, or which RT fits the Chiefs the best. So they literally overhype QBs so they can have a group of people to talk about. It was supposed to be Luck vs Cam that year, but as we all know, Luck stayed in school so they needed someone else to rival Cam. They settled on Gabbert.

Cooks is still my guy through everything Ive seen. Id take KB if Cooks was gone at 26, thats fine but, Id prefer to have Cooks. I have to say though, some of you guys are going to be very perplexed the first time Cam throws over a 6'5 guys head if we draft one. He'll probably have less of those so I understand what youre saying but, QB aiming doesnt work like that. Cam isnt targeting the middle of someones body. He would be targeting the chest of where a receiver would be if he was either in the air or on the ground. . on most throws anyways.

If Benjamin is still on the board when we pick and we don't draft him, I'm gonna initially be pissed.

Really...want...KB!!!

He's one of the few guys, at our pick, that could possibly supplant Smitty at #1 and many of us could finally get our wish to see Smitty in the slot.

I am forehead-palming myself after watching Watkins pro-day footage, though. Benjamin is no Watkins, but he could be a Herman Moore-like franchise receiver and he loves the Franchise.
