Anyone an ESPN insider? I'm interested in who McShay has us picking in his Mock 3.0. ***Beware the Lions***

I could go on...

Lol, please just stop.. To me it is very obvious that you haven't watched Cooks play or dont know what the hell you are talking about..

I was actually VERY pleasantly surprised, when i watched this guy play, with how often he high pointed the football and won the contested catch. Maybe not quite as good as smitty, but he is still better than the rest of the 5'10 receivers, that i've seen coming out of college.

Don't discount Verrett just because of his size, he plays big. 4.4 speed with the vertical to match, 39".

Smitty and Russell showed us size aint everything, hell Earl Thomas is a shorty too.

In other words, a 6'4 receiver would only have to have a vertical of about 24" to outreach Varrett, taking a longer reach into consideration as well.

Not saying I don't want a good corner, we just need another big red zone target and possession receiver so that we can take advantage of these measuremental matchups instead of just being the victim of them.

I guess your "personal" opinion is better than everyone elses who scouts this guy. Again as I said like cooks, but winning in jump ball situations isn't his strong point. And he get's bullied in man coverage by strong physical corners.

To me "the next Steve Smith" comparison to Brandin Cooks may actually do him a disservice. That will be Cooks' cross to bear especially if he lands in Carolina.  I know that he likes it. Who wouldn't want to be compared to a legend in that sense? But the comparison needs to stop.

Sure, they are both short WRs and explosive play-makers.  That being said, I have read several reports that alludes to the fact that Cooks can stop and start on a dime better than any receiver that the scout has ever seen.  Plus Cooks is markedly faster than Smith. His speed, and joystick-like moves (as one scout put it), makes his game different than the more physical Smith who will lay corners out with a stiff arm or flat out use his strength to break away. Plus, Smitty blocks. Cooks, not so much. Smith is probably not going to be successfully jammed at the line. Cooks has to work on that. Both Smitty and Cooks can high-point the ball. Smitty has some slash and juke to his game with great speed. Cooks' slash and juke move along with awesome speed and springy feet makes him a home run threat every down. Once both get behind defenses, it's off to the races.

It is also worth noting that though Cooks will probably not get markedly bigger, his frame does have room for more weight and muscle.  I have read in different reports that Cooks is a "more athletic" and "more physical" version of Tavon Austin (which is not a bad thing).

Verrett is 5'10", not 4'10", I assume you mean 34". The kid had like 36 PD's the last two years. He gets to the ball.

It still baffles me that you have to have ESPN Insider to see McShay's mock. Its pretty much like the rest of them, but since its ESPN, its considered more accurate?

It baffles me that people value McShay's opinion. You're better off watching tape yourself than listening to that dolt.

Between him an MH its nauseating. They make Kiper look good they are so bad. You want a decent opinion listen to someone like Daniel Jeremiah, solid stuff with no hidden agendas to get ratings. Plus he has actual experience doing this. Love Path to the Draft.
