News!

Psst...I can see a WR in the first in our future.

That was my first thought.  We have shown interest in Brandon Thompson (2nd-3rd) and now this guy (2nd-3rd). Of course, we are trying to make guesses based on a few scraps of information, but that is the fun part.

And that's all I am saying.  People need to loosen their collars. At the end of the day, it's all about having fun with this thing.

I'm just glad to be getting a morsel of news.  We have a long two months ahead of us.

If Gman nabs a serviceable or better LT in FA, it opens the door for speculation about said pick. Take away the need for a 1st round LT, and we can then take the best playmaker available scenario. LT, Amini, Kalil, RG, of which we have plenty of options, and at worst, Bell. Not the best line in the league, but with some tweaking, a pretty good combo.

Personally, every Tom, Dick, and Harry knows we need help at WR. If so, then Gman probably knows. I don't usually advocate for just one position. preferring to let BPA take us where it may. But...Get fugging Cam some damm weapons please.

If Gman can at least fill out the roster by draft day. I could realistically see us taking, what for it, wait for it, a WR in the 1st round. I can live with that.

Get yourself a playmaker. Design him some plays. Let him loose. Smitty, Ginn Jr., and an exciting rookie could be good enough for this year. You still have room for McNutt, King, or any other kid to work out. Without the worry over pushing them too fast, you can judge how they are progressing. Who knows. Maybe one of the kids is ready to shine?

tl/dr version. With a modicum of luck. This could be the first, in a long line of, drafts where BPA actually means Playmakers are a high likelihood.

Joe Bitonio

Billy Turner

James Hurst

BrandonThomas

Jack Mewhort (probably going sooner)

I am guessing that our second-round pick is named above.

I would love to see 2 WRs and 2 T's brought in.  I don't think I want to watch Bell any more.

Positives

  • Great arm extension on both pass and run blocks
  • Good, fluid footwork when pass blocking
  • A whole lot of raw strength; physically dominates at the line of scrimmage and frequently knocks players to the ground with just a simple push
  • Quick enough to make solid contact with defenders at the second level
  • Shows good potential on angle blocks, which could make him a candidate for conversion to guard
  • Uses leverage well, can put his body into defenders and driveicon1.png them down the field
  • Decent lateral movement
  • Weight will allow him to easily shift between guard and tackle if necessary
  • Comes from a footballicon1.png pedigree; father Maurice was an NFL running back, while brother Bryan Kehl is a member of the Washington Redskins

Negatives

  • Has a tendency to come up too high on pass blocks and get pushed back
  • Lets pass rushers bounce off him too easily rather than knocking them out of the play
  • Seems to be a bit hesitant on pulls
  • Measured in an inch shorter than his 6-foot-6 college listing at the Senior Bowl, meaning he is just a bit on the shorter side for a tackle
