Better Know a Prospect - Joel Bitonio

Over the next few weeks I will be highlighting players I would like to see in a Carolina Panthers uniform.

Joel Bitonio is one of those guys.

302 Pounds

5th year senior out of Nevada.

Bitonio showed both the intelligence and tenacity that propel players into a solid NFL career.

He performed better than originally expected at the combine, shooting him up to possibly the second but more likely third round.

Why the Panthers need him:

- Bitonio can play any position on the line

- Finishes blocks with conviction. Known to have a mean streak.

- Does not give up on plays or take plays off.

- One of the fastest offensive line players in the draft. Would like to see him down field in front of Cam on designed runs.

- Earned starting spot his Sophomore year. Not intimidated by established players.

Yeh, being versatile is great here. Our line has had major problems staying healthy as of late.

Bitioni reminds me of Bakhtiari last year.

 

I like him, Billy Turner, Jack Mewhort, and Morgan Moses for us on the line.

Bitonio plays mean and hard, but not dirty. So you can take him off New Orleans and New England's draft board.

He is projected late 2nd - 3rd round.

Which would probably work out. Finding a guy that could maybe start his first year and definitely start his second year is hard to do moving out of the first round.

I'd take him in the 2nd or 3rd if we get a WR in the first and address CB through FA somehow. All part of the puzzle to see where each positional need fits in the draft and FA. Damn I can't wait.
