His comment about the franchise and them having to pay isn't about the Panthers per se.  He's saying that people doubted him.  He proved them (the NFL, the Media) that they were wrong.  All those teams that passed on him.  The media saying he wasn't a franchise player.  Now, he's being tagged which proves he's elite.  He won.  He's officially made it.  Look, Mom, I did it.  That's all he's saying.

 

Yeah I read it that way and it could also be "I will play for less with a longer contract" too. ;)

...He said being picked in the 6th round (and less money) made him more responsible.  He thinks being picked in the 6th round was good for him.

 

I don't think GMan would have franchised him if he did not believe he could wok out a long term contract that would help the team.

Up Until this point recently where he's been relentlessly bombarded on facebook he'd even take the time and have a conversation with you.  Just realize this is the same guy. Hardy's a pretty good dude just working through his Kracken persona. Which was brilliant marketing btw.

I was impressed with his interview.  There's a lot more intelligence there then the insanity of the Kracken.  I really liked the "Cam is better than sliced bread" and the comment about he was glad he was drafted late.  If he'd had gotten all the money right away he'd have blown it all and maybe not be the person he became.  Very impressed.  Seems like a guy with the ability and desire to keep getting better. 

 

A notch below Peppers as far as being a pure athlete but 10x the desire.  Hope we get a long deal done. 

 

The future is Cam, Luck, the Kracken and Star.  A stud LT and a #1 WR for the future and you've got the center of the Panthers for the next 6-7 years.
