I didn't hear back from you about this in the other thread, did you ever find a source where we can hear this for ourselves?

Red, I listen to WFNZ (like an idiot) from 7:35 A until 5:35 P every weekday.  Marc James had a dissertation about this very subject yesterday.  I would not blatantly lie to you brother.  I heard it myself during one of his many Monday jaunts.  I have no desire to research a link.

Elton John is gay, I will not take 2 minutes out of my life to find you the link.  It is common knowledge.

Believe it, don't believe it...it's a fact.  Tweet Steve and see what he says.

Dude this is my team too.  Why would I lie about something so stupid?

So Marc James said that he said it, or Steve Smith was on the radio, and literally said it himself?

I'm just trying to get this cleared up here, because if Marc James said that he said it, well....

Steve Smith said it.  Taylor was still on the show.  The next caller got down on his virtual knees and blew the light fantastic.  I was in line but arrived home in my driveway while still in the que.

I love SS89.  Steve was on for like 2 hours every Monday from NFL week 3 of 2013 until the end of the season.  I drink quite a bit but until 2300 hrs. rolls around I have never had a confirmed stroke.

Call the show tomorrow and ask the dickless wonder yourself...704-570-9610.

Tell QCB Tony from Shelby sent you.

Look I'm not saying you are a liar, I'm not trying to disrespect you, or call you out, or nonsense like that. But is it possible that you misheard? There is literally nothing I can find online about this, there is plenty of speculation about him possibly taking a pay cut, but there is nothing I can find about him saying that he flat out would not take one. Now with the current media fiasco that this whole thing has been stirred into, I just find it very hard to believe that if he went on the radio and made statements of that sort, that there wouldn't be any media outlets who got wind of it by now, and started running stories. I'm just saying.

Agreed.  In the slot, with a 60% pay cut which he has already said he would never negotiate.  We approach a stalemate.  This will not end well.

You think it reasonable Steve Smith would agree to play in 2014 for 2.8 million dollars?

You think Getts would demand that?

Guest Dark Knight

Last year on WFNZ, around mid season, Steve was asked several things, such as his contract, how long he wants to play, if he'd play elsewhere, etc.

Steve said his #1 goal right now is chasing career numbers, whether here or elsewhere. He wants 1,000 Rec & 15,000 Yd. Said he's older & right now it's all about numbers. When she if he's okay with not getting the ball if it means winning he said no. He wants the ball & will complain or demand it when he doesn't get his touches. He wants to reach milestones.

When asked if he'd restructure to help the team he laughed & said absolutely not, that he is under contract thru 2016 & he won't take anything less. Said his contract is non negotiable & he will play it out of go elsewhere.

Then he said he'd go elsewhere if they didn't want him because he's just chasing numbers. Those are his goals right now.

Sorry, didn't mean to interject reality into the SS89 suckfest. As you were...

For the love of God.  Just dial the number tomorrow.  Ask about this specific situation.  He is a douche but he does have a good memory.

Again, why would I pick a specific fight about something so easily proven false?

They even spoke about it today.

Hopefully Smitty has a smart agent who understands the situation.  This is one of the rare situations where a good agent is actually the team's friend.  Sure, Smitty's ego might be raging right now, but how much do you honestly think a 5'9" 34 year old WR coming off of a sub-1000 yard season is going to demand on the open market.  If he has a good agent, that agent will have good NFL connections and be able to send out some feelers and get an idea on that figure.  His agent will probably encourage Smitty to play ball with the Panthers because they're almost certainly going to be willing to pay him more than any other team in the NFL.  I don't think G-man would try to get him down to $2.8M, but the 7M+ figure has to be reduced.  I love him to death, but Smitty is simply no longer a $7M WR.

Figured in all this too is good will to the Fan base and what it's worth.

Jerry Richardson dropped a huge dump on every Panther fan's head in 2010.

Here's a chance to keep Smitty on the field in 2014.

Find a happy medium on the contract, Panther fans deserve for Ownership to do the right thing.

Got a link to a podcast?

Smitty can reach those numbers and win in Carolina right now.

well i think he has got a lot left in the tank and this place has too many fans with quick trigger fingers.

if smitty doesnt budge on a restructure then pay the man to play and see how this year pans out and go from there.

i was just a pissed as everyone else with the timing of his drops but imo he was clutch and whipped some butt last yr.  i was a little disappointed in his overall numbers and him losing just a smidge of speed but i can still see a hungry player who wants to win, badly.
