Smitty meets with Gettleman today

I love how people LOVE to point out that Nicks had zero TDs this past season and refuse to acknowledge how terrible the Giants' offense was but they're also the first to say don't use Smitty's numbers from this past season because our offense was bad.  The double standard is ridiculous.

No...he is due a $3m roster bonus this year I believe

Yes

Obviously the 2015 contract will never see the books in its present state, 2014 may not either of course.

4/10/2012: Signed a four-year, $37.75 million contract. The deal contains $16.8 million guaranteed, including a $10 million signing bonus and each of Smith's first three base salaries. 2014: $4 million (+ $3 million option bonus), 2015: $7 million, 2016: $9 million (Option Year), 2017: Free Agent

Smith has said for 3 years he wants to be a slot receiver. Not his fault Panthers allowed a 35 yr old to continue as number 1 WR and not his fault they pay him like one either.

I don't think numbering the receiver has anything to do with whether they play z, x, or y. It's just who's the primary target or best of the bunch. The whole WR1, WR2 thing is a fantasy concept. Smith wouldn't all of a sudden expect less money for playing slot vs z or x.

Wes Welker, Victor Cruz, and Percy Harvin are the highest paid receivers on their teams and all play slot.

His point was pretty obvious and not complex....

When comparing 2 players you can't just use excuses for 1 and ignore the entire scenario with the other.(happens around here more often than not)

Smith is much older though so in this case age is a factor in the discussion.
