Hardy Update: He signs tender, long term talks continue

So at this point the only options the team has are to sign him to a long term deal, play him under the 1 yr deal, or trade him to another team - is that right?

And because Hardy has signed the tender, it seems like other teams aren't going to be discussing contract terms with Hardy - which probably makes a trade much less likely. It always seemed to me that the likeliest route to a trade was a team agreeing to terms with Hardy but asking the Panthers for a trade to avoid the two first round picks penalty.

this is starting to look like a possible "regrouping" year. I'm starting to get a feeling we shouldn't expect too much in this year's FA. But that means we'll be looking for Gems in the draft. Furthermore WR at 28 and OL to follow and finish up with another late round DB. Hopefully we won't get another Norman or then again hopefully Norman has learned something.

So the trade options are officially no more or...?! I was so pumped hearing a/b them yesterday but knew the chance of them happening were slim to none! They should keep the door open for them or they must absolutely figure out a LT deal cuz that is a ridiculous amount of $$! Either way he better be a contender for DPOY this season or ill be unsatisfied

I just can't see him playing this year for 13 Mil.... I think they get a long term deal done. I seriously don't think he gets traded but I have no clue how they plan on keeping him. I just think they plan on keeping him.

DG/JR are getting ready to drop all kinds of dollars on him like a old blue collars at a strip club. smh #whataboutthefamily?-whataboutthefamily?

If I understand it right the Panthers can trade Hardy any time they want BUT Hardy himself can't actively seek out a new deal with another team. So basically everything now has to go through the Panthers if a trade is going to go down but its not off the table.

I just don't see it happening. Rivera and Getts really want to hang on to Hardy, let's just hope its not for 13 mil....

I'm not sure on the whole regrouping thing.  Do we have some serious FA holes?  Yep.  The good news is that this draft is VERY deep at positions of need, and that's going to push down FA prices big time.  So while I don't know if we'll be NFC South Champs again, I do think we'll be in the hunt for sure.  It's not like anyone in the South is really set up to dominate everyone else at this moment.

Here's to great scout work and decisions made.  If we can get some impact/talent out of this draft and pull some good FA bargains (like Ginn and Mitchell were last year), then we'll be competitive.

On the Hardy opinion, I do think that he's going to sign a long term deal.  The tag shows that we're committed to him, we just need some time to get the other contracts settled.

Quit being greedy you overrated bastard.

I doubt they get him or Rosenhaus to agree to anything. Dude gets escorted in Bentley's from airports. Dude only makes $500k but acts & spends like he makes $500m.

He wants money. And he'll never live up to it whenever he gets it.

    • Yeah and he succeeded at an even higher level in LA with an even better surrounding cast. Goff is a guy that isn't really able to dramatically elevate players around him but he can make a good situation even better. He is capable of that. Some QB's aren't. I am not sure Dak is able to do that and he is in a similar "class" as Goff, IMO.
    • i think i could handle that for a year. beyond that....i don't know.  back where we lived, when we had a few inches of snow, it might have been a couple feet because we weren't getting out and doing anything. i remember times where power would go out for days on end. we had propane and electric heat, depending on the floor. basement (had a couple bedrooms and a living room and kitchen down there) and main floor had gas logs. main floor gas logs was enough to take care of the upstairs, so we could stay warm and cook on the grill when we needed. we had a well so that was always an issue when the power went out. had to make sure tubs were filled with water for the toilets and we had gallons of water for drinking and cooking available. always had to make sure we were ready. that wasn't always the case. we had a couple moments where we were going through propane quickly and because we were dealing with the worst propane company in the world (amerigas) they wouldn't get out to put gas in our 900 gallon tank. made for some nerve racking moments.  i know y'all were probably a lot more able to handle that kind of thing, but after the little bit (comparatively) that we got here i just have no desire to get trapped again. maybe for a day or two a year get snowed in and i'm good.
    • I think he is just drawing a DC to them line and that's about as far as his thought process went. It makes almost no sense outside of that. Also, it doesn't make sense for Pittsburgh or Seattle at this juncture either.  I think our "veteran" pool is basically gonna be the Dalton/Flacco tier or the "pick your poison" options of young busts(Jones/Z. Wilson) or wild, TO prone gunslingers(Darnold/Winston/etc). We have the option to pursue I genuinely believe(depending on the way the rest of this season goes), we either draft a QB in the top 10 or resign Dalton. Outlier third option on taking one of the wild gunslingers that Dave feels like he can work with.
