Report: Eugene Monroe option for Panthers

Gross cap was $4mil probably the same amount you could pay Anthony Collins, just don't see how we pay Monroe,Veldheer or Albert, Miami and Arizona better caps will offer more money than we have.

You could get Monroe with a contract that has a cap hit of 5-6 million in season 1, similar to what Gross had last season.

Vet Minimum + plus signing bonus + roster bonus = 900k + 5 million + 500k = cap hit of 6.4 million. Its season two that would hurt, because you'd have a salary of around 1.1 million and a cap hit of around 11 million counting the roster bonus, option bonus and signing bonus. Year 3 would be a cap hit of around 13-14 million and so forth going up till it gets to the point you restructure or extend. With the deal I proposed Monroe would get paid around 33 million cash in just the first two seasons and the cap hit would only be 6.4 in season 1.

I agree but the guy won't take it, ravens offered him good money, and didn't want to tag him which was what $11mil? for a young LT about to hit his prime that's good money for the second most important position on the team, I just don't see him negotiating much he wants to be paid big.

That's 33 million cash in the first two seasons, that he gets no matter what.... of course he would take it.

His Cap hit was 5.6 last season and 5.3 this season with out him even being here.

Is be happy to get Monroe believe me, I've read a few bits on him and all saying he was hard to negotiate with and wants big money, ravens lost patience and decided to not even tag him.

We have til Friday evening like any team to talk to him and other free agents but can't make and actual offer, let's hope gettleman works his magic.
