Still loving Gettleman?

This list alone should shut us all up.  Which one do you want him to do to make you feel comfortable that we are in good hands...walk on water or turn water into wine?

This place is worse now than when we had a loosing record.

You guys can bemoan all you want, the team I pull for will have a winning record 4 out of the next 5 years from what I can see.

I can confidently say we never had a loosing record.

The amount of disrespectful comments I've read on this forum about smitty is atrocious, how many of you would even be panther fans if smitty wasn't playing his ass off for us through all those down years? some you guys must of forgot how many times he bailed out not just Delhomme but us as a team. Yes this is a business, but the most important thing about a business is the customers. And the customers are us fans, and if you don't love Smith or think he should be treated like the team captain he is, then you're not a real fan. Period.

I pull for the team, not the players.  With luck, the team will still be here in 20 years, none of the current players will.  I was there in the beginning, the VERY beginning and I wish this franchise had been run from day 1 like a business rather than the charity it has been for 15 plus years.

A multimillionaire has already been given what he is owed.  The NFL is based upon current physical prowess and projected performance, not past accolades and nostalgic memories.

That is what tribute videos are for.

I love Smitty but if Jerry Rice can be shown the door if he didn't want to cooperate, so can Mighty Mouse.  The 2014/15 SB Champ will not look back and say, "Thank goodness we listened to our heart rather than doing what is best for the team".

I would be a fan if Steve Smith would have been drafted and played his entire career with the Falcons.  Steve Smith does not define the Panthers and Steve Smith does not make me a fan.  He is a part of our lore and I will cherish every game but time marches on.

And I pointed out to you that "HAS HAD" is present perfect, not past.

Lord have mercy...

If he would've said, "Steve Smith is having a very productive career." present tense. Saying, that he has had a very good career, past tense, insinuates that his career may be coming to an end. The way he worded what he said, is in the past tense.

If your boss to you that you've had a great career with us, however your current position is being evaluated. Would you find comfort in that, as in he was speaking, in the present tense about what you can and will contribute. Or would you think he spoke of what you contributed, in the past has been great, but may not be great enough going forward? If you can't understand this, I don't know how else to explain it to you.

But whether you understand it or not, please continue to pray...

the point was we must move forward... the same ole results in the same ole... I've seen enough lack of winning since 2004. Yes some of those seasons were ok but look at the majority or reasoning. Lack of help, lack of money, lack of fundamentals, etc. therefore, what ever gets us to an officially good team level is necessary. one winning season every so often is not true success. furthermore, i'm a smith/gross fan but the reality those guys are aging and not what they were 11 years ago. so then, DG is doing his job it's the boys around here that can't handle break ups.  #attachment

most can handle a breakup when it is time, trouble is it is not time for Smitty just yet.

Granted, I approach hating you on many different levels, but I got to give you that one.

Can I assume you are a Holes fan...just a clarification so I can hate you even more come this Saturday?

I don't think a man who is straight forward has any need to disrespect anyone. They are the type to do things face to face .This type of thing, if done purposely, is cowardly not straight forward and i don't think he is a coward.

Yeah, but not everyone that is straight forward care to converse face to face. I don't know what Gettleman's motivation was for saying what he said without talking to Smith before he said it. I just know that I didn't agree with it...

It is his job to talk face to face and I think above all he wants to do his job.if I thought for a moment it was on purpose I would be blasting him from here on out.I just don't see it.Like i said if on purpose it was cowardly.

If it wasn't on purpose, why did he not respond in the same manner about other players, such as Gross or Hardy?

I don't know why he responded the way he did about anyone. I just don't think what he said about Smitty was what it has been made out to be.

Judging by his interviews with The Giants, I don't think he'll ever change. His brash attitude and 'cyborg' or cold demeanor are apart of who he is as a man. He doesn't care what people and fans think of him.

That is the Giants way (and other well run organizations like Baltimore with Newsome as GM). Always has been.

That is how they always do business with the overwhelming majority of their players/negotiations over the years.

They don't kiss your ass, unless your a very special, and important player (to the team) in your prime.

I bet a lot of Panther fans didn't know that when G-Man came here (not that I have a problem with it, but it's the polar opposite of Hurney's financial coddling).

    • I don't know about you but I have been a life long Chiefs fan for the past 4 years.
    • Sure there's a ton of transplants in Colorado now. But as far as Denver in particular goes the Broncos have also been around for 65 years. Someone moving to Denver is going to be far more likely to become a fan of the Broncos and even attend games versus someone moving to Charlotte and the Panthers. Like I said it's not just one single thing with us it's multiple factors.
    • He's definitely getting better. It's fun to watch.  I've been getting killed for this take, but with the current state of college football, it just takes more time to develop a quarterback. I don't think it's a plug and play position anymore. I'm really not sure if it ever was. NFL offenses have always been substantially more complex than the college game, and the college game has simplified even more in recent years. Many college teams do not have a physical playbook anymore. That's just not the national football league.  Are there freaks who have success from day 1? Yes, without question. But so many of those guys are runners, and so many of those guys tail off. Is Bryce ever going to be Josh Allen? Probably not.  What I am seeing is a guy with complete command of the offense. He's checking into things at the line, making adjustments, and making timely throws.  He goes to David Moore a ton, because Moore is a consistent route runner. Bryce knows where he is and when he should be open. I think the guy with the "super processor" needs to be comfortable in the offense in order to do the "super processing." He doesn't have elite arm talent, and he is small of stature, but if he makes the smart play consistently, and he's willing to throw the ball downfield and not make mistakes, like he's starting to show, he's going to be a starter for a long time in this league, and it's not a position I'd spend draft capital right now.
