Still loving Gettleman?

thats not what i posted.

i posted i would wonder what you thought of Cam coming out and saying what Steve Smith said. And yes that could surely happen.

Unlike this current situation, Cam *HAS* been disrespected by many for almost three years now.

But if someone 10 years from now tells him he HAS HAD a great career but he will be evaluated like the rest of the team?  (1) I suspect Cam would take it like the businessMAN that he is and has been since he's been drafted into the league.  (2) If he did (hypothetically) take offense to such an innocuous statement, he'd be wrong.

This guy became a fan because of one player that we drafted, but proceeds to talk about someone being a "diva". Hilarious.

Steve Smith will be gone eventually, and these people talking poo will be wishing he wasn't. Wait, and see.

Because Can wasn't questioned in his 2nd year when he didn't play well? The Gettleman comments didn't change anything. When GMan was hired people were already saying Cam wasn't his type of QB. And as I said it was a non issue in the locker room/front office which is all that matters.

And again, you are over reacting to mainly media driven story.

There were only a few idiot fans saying Cam wasn't his type of quarterback.

Well we disagree, I think it was definitely more than a "non issue".

You are a tool for even caring about why another human being became a panther fan and then trying to attack him with it. Get off this huge moral high horse you try to ride and ditch this holier than now act because it makes you look like a fugging tool

Is the only thing you do here follow me from thread to thread, and call me names?

Let it go already. It's getting uncomfortable.

You want a hug? Well come over here.

Gross was also given the courtesy of a private conversation to reach that solution. Steve Smith wasn't given the same respect Jordan was.

Don't worry he will get the same talk. DG just had to evaluate all the players first, then rank them in order of importance, and then figure out who needed to be resigned or cut. That is going to take several weeks to do and that time is coming soon.

i always welcome a different/new set of eyes and a new way of solving problems. don has shown his eye for talent(draft&FA) and the business of doing business.

of course most here would be calling for his head if the record was 2-14, typical huddler- "bring herniay BACCCKKK!!!"

so far so good....

I agree with part of this--it is a tough one to answer. We were trending up, but not to 12-4 without a great GM.  Here is a list of my reasons we turned the corner:

Despite being +$16 million over the cap, Gettlemen brought in at least 13 players who played key roles, many as starters.

Mike Mitchell (starter)

Ted Ginn (key role as a WR and KR)

Chase Blackburn (starter)

Star Lotulelei (starter)

KK Short (key role in rotation)

Drayton Florence (part time starter, key role in rotation)

Captain Munnerlyn (starter---re-signed after letting him dabble in free agency)

Dwan Edwards (starter---re-signed after letting him dabble in free agency)

Travelle Wharton (starter)

Quintin Mikell (starter)

Melvin White (starter--undrafted free agent)

Robert Lester (key special teamer and rotational player--undrafted free agent)

Colin Cole (starter)

Not one big contract in the bunch.  He found starters in the draft and free agency that constituted nearly HALF of the 22 starting players.

This list alone should shut us all up.  Which one do you want him to do to make you feel comfortable that we are in good hands...walk on water or turn water into wine?

This place is worse now than when we had a losing record.

You guys can bemoan all you want, the team I pull for will have a winning record 4 out of the next 5 years from what I can see.

The amount of disrespectful comments I've read on this forum about smitty is atrocious, how many of you would even be panther fans if smitty wasn't playing his ass off for us through all those down years? some you guys must of forgot how many times he bailed out not just Delhomme but us as a team. Yes this is a business, but the most important thing about a business is the customers. And the customers are us fans, and if you don't love Smith or think he should be treated like the team captain he is, then you're not a real fan. Period.

I don't buy that. Gettleman, seems to me, to be a straight forward type of guy. I believe that he meant what he said. Why he meant it, why he chose to share it with the media and why he feels that way about Steve Smith, I don't know. You don't disrespect someone in that manner and not know it. He couldn't say what he said and know have some idea of how Smith would feel about it and how the media would use it.

I don't think a man who is straight forward has any need to disrespect anyone. They are the type to do things face to face .This type of thing, if done purposely, is cowardly not straight forward and i don't think he is a coward.
