Over The Cap weighs in on Hardy FT, Smitty

Hardy is staying and 89 need to learn that hes not young anymore.

Also, Gman could go DBs heavy in the draft.

on this note 89 should be glad this franchise is finally being run the way he's wanted it..  you can't get moved to the slot when the team is being run like the last Panthers "dynasty"..  Vets only last so long without a consistent rejuvenation through the draft; which also goes hand in hand with consistent success and a manageable cap.

which is exactly what this team has to do every year if they expect to find consistent success year in and year out...

Building through the draft require a lot of patience. On the other hand, nothing worse than sign a FA with big money and then wanting to trade him the following year, like Mike Wallace.

Let's use receiver as an example, do we draft a new #1 receiver or go get Nicks, pay him a ton of money when he's not exactly been amazing the last two years, I did like Maclin but he's resigned, other than that there's nobody outhere looking at the list of free agents at receiver who makes you think wow go get him, so maybe were better to draft our future #1 and continue to build through the draft and hope we pickup guys like Seattle seem to.

I think the BPA approach is going to difficult with the holes we have. We need 2 WR's, 2 OL and 2 DB's at the moment and it is going to be difficult to get any FA to fill those needs. Here's to hoping the draft yields use a starter at each of those positions. Sent from my Nexus 7 using CarolinaHuddle mobile app

keep in mind that every teams draft board is different......... therefore the BPA's are not the same.

Believe me.......our BPA's will lean towards positions of need and number of studs at said position.

I see what overthecap is saying, it's hard to act, talk, and restructure like you're in cap hell then turn around and give up half of your available space to one player leaving 20 others to sign.

I realize the future looks brighter with Beason's dead money expiring and the cap is expected to keep rising, but in the present it's hard to justify. For that reason I don't think this is the last we've heard of Hardy news. At the very least expect more restructures or cuts especially if Hardy is expected to stay on the tag.

No matter what happens from here forward, Bell is a liability at the RT position, and would easily be the worst LT in the league if he moved to that side. The OL is waaaaay more pressing to me, than say, tagging Hardy.

Sure, having great pass rushers helped the giants, but hey also had an unbelievable offensive line, a solid core of young (see: healthy) running backs, and decent options at wide receiver.

We have none of that.

^^ this is my only problem, it seems you sign hardy but possibly takeaway the opportunity to improve so many other areas like offensive line upgrades and weapons for cam, we will see what happens but gettleman has one hell of a magic show to put on from this point.

Agree but don't think it's viable I get rid of jstews deal til 2016? I maybe wrong but his hits and bonuses make it that way, so we atleast have to put up with him another two offseasons, dwill probably his last year, I agree longterm is gettlemans way of thinking it has to be were already $110mil commited to 2015 cap and that without Cams new deal and Luke and we only have 29 guys signed at this point. I think Star can wait til 2016

Do you go by the name qdog on the PFT comments section?
