Salary Cap Announcement - Tagging Talk

Captain was solid last year, def. not spectacular.  I would feel very comfortable with him in the slot, but he gets abused by big outside receivers too often.  He should get paid as one of the top nickle corners no doubt about that, but if he thinks he deserves a big CB pay day don't let the door hit ya captain.

Did anyone see the article by David Newton (he still won't claim that he was wrong) that says the Panthers current cap is like 18 million under, but that is still based on the projected cap of 126 million.  But now that there might be a cap around 132-133 that the panthers will actually have like 24-25 million to work with.  Which is right in the middle of what everyone was saying and what he was saying.

Just food for thought.

Well if Joe is saying the Panther's are talking about a long term deal then I'm expecting Hardy to be tagged. You know what I take that back. Joe has been dumped on enough. He's going to turn things around with this latest report and be spot on.

Dockery is terrible. OMFG!

Carolina fan base need to shut up about the "tall CB" crap. Give me someone who can actually play. Short or tall, I dont fuggn care. You win with "talent", not size.

Dockery played great for the amount of real reps he was given before thrown into the starting role.

Dockery played good enough to help win some games late in 2012. But, to believe that we can stop opponents with White and Dockery as our starting corners is ridiculous. We did well enough to win games last season due to our ferocious front 7. It's time for upgrade in the secondary.

If I was the GM, I would easily go CB with the 28 pick bc I believe that position would be "BPA". I dont see an OT good enough to be have at 28 and this WR group is too deep that we can still find one in the 2nd.

Dockery is worthy of a roster spot if Flo and Munnerlyn are not back, but he should not have a starting job.

You might want to go back, and watch Captain Munnerlyn trying to cover Mike Wallace in the Miami game last year.

All the talent in the world won't make a player grow taller. Size matters, a lot.

Tell Steve Smith, Derrick Brooks, Ray Lewis, etc. that.

Size matters and def is nice to have. I never said I didnt want size, but I would not cross a talented player off my list due to size.

Munnerlyn is not great, but he's pretty much our best corner. And, he's 5'8''.That's saying something: we need upgrade. Dockery is not an upgrade to Munnerlyn except for size.

At 28, I would not hesitate to take Dennard (could possibly be there), Verrett, or Roby. Both Verrrett and Roby are smaller corners, but should be big time upgrade in our secondary. Imo, they both are better prospects coming out than Desmond Trufant who Atlanta traded up for.

There are exceptions, but for each of those there are many more who can't overcome it, unfortunately. I think Munnerlyn gets a lot of grief here, some he deserves, but the guy is talented. Regardless, the secondary is going to be a work in progress, and it won't always be pretty.

With our OL, I'm not sure if we can take a CB in the first. I wouldn't necessarily be upset, but I don't know.

When I said that he's not talented, Im referring that he's not a legitimate corner on the outside. However, Munnerlyn is one of the best nickle in the league today. What really kills him is not his size or speed, but his ability to cover faster guys: Wallace.

LT is pretty much our biggest need now, but I dont believe that there will be any OT worth taking at 28: Kouandjio and Tiny (knees)? Im not sure. I see Morgan Moses as a "reach" bc I have not seen anything from the Senior Bowl or Combine that tells me he's a 1st round talent. Also, this WR class is too deep to still be able to find a playmaker in the 2nd.

If you're just assuming who'll be there with BPA, it's almost certainly CB.

I may just be the only one, but I feel like Dennard could fall to us at 28. Dennard had a solid combine, but was not great. He ran an okay 40 at 4.51 (13th in cb) which didnt impress me. I thought he was going to run much better than that, and he was really stiff in drills. Verrett and Roby whom had great combine could possibly go ahead of him.

Bill voth has inspired joe to step up his game.
