If you are pretty free and clear of the above obligations, then you could withstand the loss of one income and possibly both for awhile.  If you think your next gig would come pretty easily, then I might go for it.  This coming from a guy with an accounting degree and very cautious normally.  I would not risk my home or kids situation but other than that, it might be an adventure.
