Best rim protector in the NBA: Bismack Biyombo

im not giving him anymore time - i have just let the ship sail on him being anything more than someone who will clean up the boards and play excellent Defense

im fine with what Biz is, just wish we got more out of a #9 pick

But here is a nice article on Jimmer/Biz and the 2011 trade/draft that we were involved in with Milwaukee and Sacramento:

Cool he can protect the rim but he's so bad on offense it cancels out

I've been a big detractor of Biz in years past, but I've been highly impressed with him this year.  He played really well in Big Al's absence earlier in the year and he has steadily improved in his playing time since.  I think he has picked up quite a bit from Al's mentoring and Ewing's coaching on the offensive end.  I've seen him do that baby hook enough now to know that he has worked on it and added it as an offensive go-to.  It looks consistent enough to be highly reliable now.

I'm proud of him and happy to have him as a Bobcat.  No, he isn't Andre Drummond in terms of offensive production, but he plays his role, and plays it extremely well.

Guest Dark Knight

hes dookie on offense

There is only 1 ball.

Having 5 scorers is a great novelty & it's fun watching your team score 100 points every night..

But you get tired of seeing them get outrebounded & give up 105 points every game.

I saw that last night.  Pretty cool.  Guess that reinforces whoever it was on here using "elite" to describe Biz's rim protection D

That would be me. He's been in the top 5-10 pretty much his whole career, he's now starting to add some post moves and is working on his jump shot.  He's also the hardest working player on the team. Kid's a gym rat, which is why I still think he can improve to be a 10ppg guy offensively.

I like BIz.

People need to get past the #7 pick issue.

Anyone and Everyone can look back on a draft 2 years later and say what they should have done instead, but the fact is with how shallow the past few drafts have been, getting a solid and energetic back up center who can play 'D and rebound is good value.

Fans get stuck on the fact that he isn't scoring 20 points a game and then dimiss what he does and does well.  The man can flat out ball on D and his offense has slowly, slowly improved.  He may not be Ben Wallace but Dennis Rodman made a career out of rebounding.

I like Biz as a back up center who gives you energy and effort every night.  There was a game this year where Cody fouled someone and they start to push at him, and then Biz flew in-between them and got in the other players face.  I liked that.

I also agree with what other poster said about our offense not having to run through Biz when he is on the floor.  The Bobcats knew when they drafted Biz that he would be a raw project and he is in his third season and has shown improvement every year.  If they stick with him it may pay off, not as a starting center but in the role his is in now which I like.

When Biz was drafted he was easily the least experienced player in the draft, and the plan was always to give him 4 years on the rookie contract and then re-evaluate.  Not gonna lie, his lack of an offensive game is disappointing, but right now he is getting minutes in the rotation for Clifford, who is clearly a coach that makes players earn their minutes.

Clifford has proven himself to be one of the best defensive minds in the game, and I'm interested to see what Biz can do next year with a year of quality coaching under his belt

    • At this rate, maybe he'll be a decent 8-9 QB on his 3rd HC by year 6. Standards are so low around here now. Tepper has done some serious damage to the fan base.
