Steve Smith on Gettleman's "Evaluation" comment

Precisely! If he's not a good player at this point, teams wouldn't be devoting double teams to him - they'd be spreading it out among our other options or keeping someone to spy Cam. You don't just double-team a run-of-the-mill wideout, let alone one who is almost 35 years old.

Some say he has a lost a step , yeah well he is still as quick as he ever was and that is what makes him a huge threat in the slot. He still has enough juice to pull away after the catch. Ginn and  say a Matthews on the outside , Smitty and Olsen in the middle.shore up the Oline and we are unstoppable.

That's the point, Smith stays it's his locker room. From what I understand the team wants the locker room to be Luke and Cam's.

It's not about just production, it's about Smith being a leader, who isn't always the best leader. Who's age has gone up while production has dipped.

I don't buy that for a minute. the offense dipped as a whole and that can be attributed to oline play.SS is one year removed from a 1,000 yd season so one dip does not a trend make. As far as leadership you don't pick the leader he emerges and just is one.

He's a leader because of who he is and how long he's been here. From what you hear, he's not always the best of leaders. Cam and Luke are young, hard for them to take over when Smith is still here. His Age and production is still a factor. " increase in drops the last two seasons"

Smith Steve is a top 10 NFL WR. He is a decent man, and has been the face of this franchise for the better part of 10 years. There is no reason why he should be cut.

He's not a top ten NFL Wr anymore. Him continuing to be the face is the problem, team wants that to be Cam and Luke.
