Godzilla looks pretty badass

No binocular vision, I can see it in 2D and save $5! Woot!

But I will be going to see this movie. They can stop with the trailers now. I've been sold since the teaser.

Fair point. It's not a must, but I enjoyed Pacific Rim in 3D, so I guess it depends on if I feel like dealing with the glasses.

Updated Trailer. For those who wish to avoid any spoilers, I'd advise not watching. I may have to go into media shutdown mode for summer movies now. I'll never forget my slip up when I bought the Star Wars Episode I Soundtrack a week before and saw "Qui-Gon's Funeral" ....mutha fugga.....I was so careful dammit.

Best Line: "a monster"...."no a god"

So I finally got ungagged for posting this, but I got to go to an early screening last week with a friend.

I won't spoil a thing (there are plenty of spoiler reviews out there), but will say this.  If you're on the fence about going in theaters, then make it a priority to get off the fence and see it.

I'm pretty judgemental when it comes to movies (especially action ones) and I went into this already thinking I probably wouldn't like it.  But man was it so much better than I thought it would be.  It had its off moments (Aaron Johnson is such a terrible actor), but when it shined it shined so brightly.

I also do not like 3D, but do yourself a huge favor and grab an IMAX 3D ticket.  The scope is enormous and there were times when the theater would shake at the monsters roar was so loud (why IMAX is another must).

I will probably go to the midnight screening just to go enjoy it again like it is meant to be watched.

8.5 / 10.

Great flick. Imax 3D is highly recommended

Edit:  even with the spoiler trailer that I thought had partially ruined the movie for me, it still had plenty of surprises. The more I think about it, some crappy scenes notwithstanding, I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and I'd go again (which is rare for me).

Just saw it and I was expecting more. The sound effects were great. It really had so much potential, but the acting fell short. I'm a big fan of Wantanabe, but even he couldn't save it. It didn't seem to have a good flow to me. I almost walked out halfway through because I thought it was that bad, but I didn't because I had dropped 30 bucks on tickets.

Okay, here's my breakdown. The humans were completely irrelevant to the plot. And yet 95% of the movie is about them.

I should have known. When I watched Gareth Edwards last movie, Monsters, I was so bored by the human drama that I turned it off before I even saw a monster. The guy is just a horrible filmmaker.

Pacific Rim was better because it actually delivered what it promised. You wanted monsters fighting mechas? Here's two hours of it! I wanted to see Godzilla fighting monsters, and I got Nicholas Sparks presents "Godzilla."

The fight scenes and monster affects were awesome, but Godzilla had tops 5 minutes of screen time.
