Godzilla looks pretty badass

What!? The cast is arguably the most promising part.

Aaron Johnson is a really underrated actor, but he's married to a woman twice his age (23 - 46) which is weird.

Bryan Cranston is arguably the best TV actor of the past decade, and possibly one of the best of all time.

Ken Watanabe arguably could've/should've won an Academy Award between The Last Samurai and Letters from Iwo Jima, and apparently sweeps the Japanese film awards every time he's in a movie over there.

Elizabeth Olsen is pretty fine.

And there are a couple others who have won/been nominated for multiple Academy Awards and Golden Globes.

It's good to see one of these big monster/apocalyptic/superhero type movies with people who are actually well established and praised actors.

cast looks good I do find it a little funny that Aaron Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen are playing husband and wife in this film and playing brother and sister in the Avengers 2.

Much like pacific rim, this is a popcorn flick. Check your brain at the door. Strap in. Enjoy the ride like you were a kid again.

Under ordinary circumstances I'd agree, and a popcorn flick would be more than enough for me to justify going to see it. But the cast leads me to believe otherwise. Cranston is fresh off the best show on TV, and is one of the most respected actors in Hollywood right now. KickAss is actually pretty solid, and Watanabe's career speaks for itself.

I'm not going to guarantee it by any measure, but the fact that it can boast such a celebrated cast leads me to believe this movie might actually have some substance beyond visual spectacle.
