Godzilla looks pretty badass

I thought the exact opposite.  I will watch it because I am a fan of Godzilla movies. The last one was ok.  One of the parts that bother me is from judging by the poster, Godzilla looks to be 1500 ft tall.  Thats just crazy. Godzilla has always been around 350 ft tall or less.  Not sure I am digging the cast either.

Raymond Burr is dead, get over it.

Lots to like...

- The callback to the original movie...

- The use of a creature design based on the original (as opposed to a giant freakin' iguana)

- Bryan Cranston playing a re-creation of the Raymond Burr role...

- The suggestion that nuclear tests were really attempts to kill the monster...

- The dark tone (a giant monster movie should not be lighthearted)

- The fact that Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich have nothing to do with it...

- The legendary Godzilla roar...

Can't wait to see this.

What!? The cast is arguably the most promising part.

Aaron Johnson is a really underrated actor, but he's married to a woman twice his age (23 - 46) which is weird.

Bryan Cranston is arguably the best TV actor of the past decade, and possibly one of the best of all time.

Ken Watanabe arguably could've/should've won an Academy Award between The Last Samurai and Letters from Iwo Jima, and apparently sweeps the Japanese film awards every time he's in a movie over there.

Elizabeth Olsen is pretty fine.

And there are a couple others who have won/been nominated for multiple Academy Awards and Golden Globes.

It's good to see one of these big monster/apocalyptic/superhero type movies with people who are actually well established and praised actors.

I hate these types of movies -- big monster destroying things, superheros, comic book related, based off of a cartoon/anime, etc etc.

But this does look quite good. Darabont is in on it, and he has literally never had a misfire. Look at the things he's been in on: Shawshank, Green Mile, Collateral, Minority Report, Saving Private Ryan, The Mist, The Walking Dead before it got shitty.

Add the relatively strong cast to the bill, especially considering these types of films almost always have terrible to mediocre casts... Color me a little excited.

One thing though. Apparently Joseph Gordon-Levitt turned down a role in the movie, and the dude has mastered the art of script choosing. Considering how often you see the guy in movies these days, he has been in very very few "bad" movies, even early on in his career before he became the up-and-coming star that he is today. That's the one thing that comes across as a little fishy, especially since he's my favorite actor and I think the dude is an absolute genius.
