Following up what you are saying...

It'd take two pro-bowl offensive linemen to block Hardy if we had to play against him.

The Kraken is a face of the franchise that opposing teams have to game plan for.

We can get decent linemen through draft, practice squad and through FA...we ain't ever gonna get another Kraken or draft enough linemen to be able to keep him off Cam.

So yes, please stop with the utter bs about trading Hardy away for unproven prospects.

 

Hardy is the second best DE on his own team and disappeared for big stretches of last season. He didn't show better than Johnson until he got leg-whipped by that shitbag on the Patriots. He's a very good player and If he walks it's a loss but it's not the franchise killer you're making it out to be.

 

We'll be fine on the offensive line. The interior is already set and really solid. (Silatolu/Kalil/Wharton). Like someone said, we'll draft someone, we have a couple of developmental guys we like and we'll sign at least one FA. We've freed up a bunch of cap space to plug the big holes once FA starts.

Let's ask hardy to play LT aswel as DE he's gona be earning enough let's make him earn it! No seriously now we have a fair bit of cap space and some leverage room I say tag and trade him, least we will get is three probably starters out of draft picks and not spend a load of cash on two DEs

I'm actually hoping we will tag and trade him in all honesty.  A lot of people are pessimistic about what we could get in return, but this guy is young and one of the best DEs in the league.  I like our chances of getting pretty good value in return.  I love Hardy, but I hope we don't resign him.  I feel we could bring in a guy like Jared Allen for less money, and get pretty much the same production out of him.  The only way I would consider bringing Hardy back, is if I was extremely confident he would break sack records for the rest of his career.  If he's not going to give me 20+ sacks in each of the next three seasons, I wouldn't bring him back.

Yep haha.  Ultimately, I project Hardy to have good probowl type numbers.  However, I feel like a Jared Allen would also give me good probowl like numbers as well with a much lower price tag.  We got to be smart here.

Not sure I am with veterans like Tuck and Allen on the market for way less money. If DG is confident he can get starters out of the draft, particularly at tackle and receiver then Hardy, Mitchell and Captain might be the only starters we need to re-sign. I'm not sure he's worth the money he wants tho.
