Future coach?

I'm happy for him.  "This is Gross" was always a great listen.  He gets to leave the game healthy and coming off one of his best seasons.  So many players leave the game because of injuries and he gets to leave on his own terms.  He was a Superbowl win away from being a HOFer.

Said he doesn't want to coach. He'll be in the media room.

For the team, I wish he would have stuck around for one more season and given us a transition year...

 

I'm happy for him though that he can do what he needs to do.

 

 

His leadership and maturity will surely be missed as much as his play.

Gross gave us 11 good season and performed at a level most players don't as well as being a mentor to the younger players especially Cam and helping them grow.  With that said, it was time.  Gross lost a considerable amount of weight a few years ago and I cant be the only one that seen his play slip because of it.  Whether it was age or just the fact that DEs can move him around easily with less weight, his play did regress.  Hopefully, he can stay with the team as a lineman coach or in some facet because he was definitely the glue that held this team together.

I hope to see him involved with the Panthers or media in some capacity.  Great ambassador for the team, and the sport.  Great player and even better person.

thanks for years of tough football, good years and really bad years that you stuck it out and helped lead this team through. thanks for shaping the heart of the team and making it a family setting. thanks for last year and all those awesome interviews that helped make us feel a part of something special. thanks for being a panther. we are so fortunate to have had a guy like you anchoring our OL and team instead of one of those douches like incognito. you helped make the panthers a group of guys we could be proud of.

 

congrats on retiring and being able to do it young and healthy. you'll be missed on many levels.
