Kalil isn't elite. I have no problem with rookie OT's, there's only one way they're going to learn and given our cap we can't really get in a bidding war with anyone.

I know he's not, that's my point. But he was the safest, can't miss prospect of only 3 years ago, a top 3-5 pick slam dunk. He has struggled, as did the top tackles last year. To think that 2 rookies at the end of the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd round this year could be trusted to protect Cam is insane.

Not that I don't believe it could happen. I wouldn't be surprised if he retires, but I really hope he doesn't. But this is Bill Voth. Apparently he all of a sudden has a direct line to Gettleman and has been slipping him truth serum cocktails. If someone else said it I'd be more inclined to take it at face value. As it stands, I'll believe it when I see it

Plus he plays inside, not tackle (and isn't even especially good at that)

 

He CAN play tackle. Better than anyone on our roster if Gross goes. I don't particularly want him nor do I like him, I was just offering a possibility. He'll play somewhere, at an elite level.
