San Diego St. RB Adam Muema leaves the combine for "religious reasons"

All these people here mocking him are interesting. Do you go around mocking Huddlers who have game-day superstition? Do you make a point to mock non-Christian celebrities with unorthodox spiritual beliefs? Why not?

If it's okay for Michael Sam to do what he wants with his life without being ridiculed, it's fine for Adam Muema to do what he wants in his life without being ridiculed.

He hasn't killed anyone or beat a woman or been on a boat with hookers or raped a woman in a bathroom in a club or gambled on baseball or sent penis pictures or texted hookers or used PEDS or raped a girl in the butt in Colorado or ran a dog fighting operation....

What a nutjob

I have no problems with someone being Christian/Atheist/Buddhist/whatever, but why is it not ok for us to shame this lunatic for pretending god is picking his football teams for him?

"God wants me to to spread the word about christianity in foreign countries"... Cool. No prob-lamo with me

"God wants me to play for the Seattle Seahawks" ... Fug off

Not even re-known Christian's other than those jokers you see on TV (Joel Osteen, T.D. Jakes, Joyce Meyer etc...) believe in the prosperity gospel (if it's God's will it will happen).

This guy is an idiot and deserves to go undrafted for it.

I worked for the Liberty football team for a little bit and someone asked our former recruiting coordinator on what he thought of God having the say in the outcome of a football game... his response "God doesn't give a bloody hell about football" (he was British).

Little advice for Adam... "You don't work, you don't eat"

Should go undrafted just for being dumb as poo

I can imagine this guy preaching in the locker room. We don't need that crap in our sport.

If this guy is hearing voices, I hope he doesn't own a gun.

He should be in a mental institution.

That sounds like chemical imbalance to me.

I'm not trying to say religion is bad. But to me this isn't even about religion, this guy is delusional. Religion is just a mechanic for the real problem.

Lol at Christians (the majority religious demo in America by a wiiiiide margin) thinking they are oppressed because people find religious fanatics like this guy to be completely ridiculous.Sent from my SCH-S738C using CarolinaHuddle mobile app

Here is a good idea that would solve a lot problems like this on this forum. Just close threads like this and keep everything strictly football related and be done with. Everything we talk about things like this. People seem to fuse and fight about who is right and who is wrong. Just end it now. and lock this or move it to the tenderbox forum. Simple as that. Then return to talking about Panther football.

Well, for me it would depend on the superstition. Wearing the same shirt, eating the same meal, sitting in the same spot... silly yes, but if it makes you feel better no problem...

Then there is a guy I know in VT that packed his family up & drove 4 hrs to a sports bar in CT for every Pats game because that's where he saw every game in '01-02 & '02-'03. His wife ended up divorcing him & taking the kids because every time the loose in the playoffs he spent the 4hr drive back berating them for not doing something right.

I'm an actor/writer. It is not unusual for someone to walk in on me having a conversation with myself... in different voices. People who know me (including other actors/writers) think it's silly but accept that its just how I work.

Now if I tell these same people that the Raccoon that hops up on our deck to fug with the cats through the window told me to stop writing & auditioning because if I did I would get the co-lead in the upcoming Star Wars films, I'm going to start getting serious suggestions for professional help.

Lastly, I find it interesting that you would equate someone being gay with someone basically opting out of the job interview to get the job they really want.

Ill take it upon myself to be the spokensmen for those of us with more then 2 brain cells to rub together:

Is anyone (of importance) mocking him for his religion? Not even slightly. As i said before, i dont care if u pray to jesus, allah, brahman, shiva, Vishnu, no one, or a fugging shoe. Still doesnt change the fact that this guy is using any excuse possible to get out of something he doesnt want to do. The man has been playing football since he was in middle school. Practicing everyday, games on weekends. Studying film, working out, etc. then he decides to dedicate his life to this game. Yet a combine is not alowed? Come on.

So let me ask u. Since god skyped him and told him not to work out so then he will get drafted by the seahawks, what happens when hes NOT drafted by them? What happens then? Was this all a lie? Will he claim gods not real? Will he convert to Buddhism? Or maybe, just maybe did this looney toon not take his pills this morning and try to do something to cover his ass?

Oh, and to answer your questions:

"Do i make fun of huddlers with superstitions?"

-hell yes. Its stupid. Its retarded. Its narcissistic to think that YOU control a football game from 100's-1000s miles away. Plus, we havent ever won the super bowl. So clearly everyones superstitions are 18 years worth of nothing but looking like a fool. Also, you people who watch on TV and have to do a certain thing before a play cuz its "good luck", do u idiots realize the TV feed is on a slight delay? So in reality, the play is practically over by the time youre seeing it. So your superstition is pointless since the play already happened

"Do you make a point to mock non-Christian celebrities with unorthodox spiritual beliefs?"

-not participating in a workout is not an "unorthadox religious belief." Theres no religion that allows football, but bans the practicing of football

And your last statement about comparing him to Michael coming out as gay. Correct me if im wrong, but Michael never said "im not going to practice today...... Why?....... Oh its cuz im gay. Gay guys dont practice. Sorry." Not even remotely the same.

IMO the idea that god directs fortune for the individual is a direct extension of evangelical prosperity gospel and is a uniquely western brand of existential narcissism. i know for a fact that people who believe things like this aren't doing it out of arrogance - it's genuine belief - but man it looks bad from an objective outsider's perspective. hopefully he will get his poo together.

Oh really? Without being ridiculed, eh? Apparently you missed the 68 page Michael Sam thread full of ridicule and condemnation.

...by Christians.

...who now want to be shielded from the very thing that they dished out for 68 pages.
