Guess who got 16 reps on the bench press today

To many people on the huddle think every guy with a good combine showing will be a 1st rounder now. Conversely a lot of people on this board think a bad combine showing meaning you an UDFA. A lot of people on here have no clue about football

Or we actually watch both and realize Cooks' combine performance matches up with what he does in games, but sure go ahead...

No. I said not so much as you're trying to make it out to be. Professionals aren't going to overlook Brandin Cooks' skill set unless they have a very good reason to do so, and I predict that his height is not going to be enough of a reason to drop him significantly down draft boards.

That's not how your quote read.

Height is a "huge factor" in your world. The professionals, not so much.

Not really. If you're implying that because Cooks had a "good combine showing" that he will be a first rounder, then why was he considered a late first rounder by so many draftniks before the Combine? If you're not implying this about Cooks, then pardon my assumption.

Sorry you misunderstood, but I have already clarified myself, as did the address by Maine that you didn't address. Height is a factor, but it is not any more "huge" than any other factor if you are as complete as Brandin Cooks seems to be. Understand? Good.

The phrase "quit trying to find the next Steve Smith" is so overused and actually has nothing to do with Cooks.

Truth be told a comparison is just that, a likeness between two (or more) things. Smith can do things that Cooks can't do but I'm sure Cooks can do things that Smith can do.

And at the end of the day, it's not about finding the next Steve Smith, it's about drafting the best player that puts us in a position to win. If Gettleman feels that he does that, he is going to take him for that reason; not because he may or may not be the next Steve Smith.

I've had like half a dozen people quoting me at once, yes I'm sorry if I missed anyone. There's nothing to misunderstand, if you meant something else by that then you could have clarified yourself better. That's all I'm saying.

Talent and upside did not make Smitty grow taller.  We should never have drafted him.

That's not the argument. We took Smitty in the 3rd round, that's a far cry from taking this dude with the 28th overall pick when we have massive glaring holes. Cooks could be a great compliment player, just as Smitty was early in his career to Moose (a lot of people on here don't remember that part, because they became fans when Cam rolled into town), and could eventually become good to great

Smitty became great because he wanted it more than anyone else on the field, not because of his upside or height, or whatever. Smitty proved that he was a warrior, and used that fuel every day to be the best player he could be. Is Cooks like that? I have no idea, but I'm inclined to say that no, he's not, only because, in all of my years watching football have I seen someone that wants it as much as Smitty.

Height matters but only to the extent that if you have two complete players you take the taller guy. You don't accept a drop off in talent just because the better player is shorter. Kelvin Benjamin is nowhere near as complete as Cooks, for all of his size Benjamin isn't even a good blocker.

i think are people are not that fond of cooks because every time a short speedy guy comes out, everyone says hes the next smith. then tavon austin comes out last year and was not this big superstar like everyone thought.(he was decent though)

i like moncrief for the 4.3 guy lol.

So instead of expecting our QB to throw the ball where our receivers can catch it, we should just get the biggest, longest receivers possible to make up for our QBs shortcomings? Is that what I'm getting from all the people that don't want Cook? You guys don't think Cam can adjust to throw to someone not 6'0?

Our QB shouldn't have to have perfect placement all the time. No other fan base except this but us.

I already did. Don't overlook it like you have a tendency to do. This discussion isn't about technicalities, it's about substance.
