That's not the argument. We took Smitty in the 3rd round, that's a far cry from taking this dude with the 28th overall pick when we have massive glaring holes. Cooks could be a great compliment player, just as Smitty was early in his career to Moose (a lot of people on here don't remember that part, because they became fans when Cam rolled into town), and could eventually become good to great

Smitty became great because he wanted it more than anyone else on the field, not because of his upside or height, or whatever. Smitty proved that he was a warrior, and used that fuel every day to be the best player he could be. Is Cooks like that? I have no idea, but I'm inclined to say that no, he's not, only because, in all of my years watching football have I seen someone that wants it as much as Smitty.

I see your point.  Much of this depends on what we do in free agency.  Right now, there are too many holes to fill.

What happens when he has to beat Sherman with a route though? Or make a crucial fourth down catch? He's not consistent in those areas. There's a spot I would draft Benjamin, but it's not in the first.

How many teams have a Sherman??

And even Sherman isn't 6'5 240 strong.

i understand that...but manning makes sure he has his weapons. guess he shouldnt care about weapons since he is one the best qbs right?

Not my point! ! I think our QB shouldn't have to make perfect throws all the time to help our WR make plays. We need WR who can make plays on accurate and inaccurate passes.

Sorry, not sold on Cook. Just because Steve Smith made it doesn't change how very low a percentage of WRs make it that are his size, or Cook's size. The chance that Cook busts is much greater than other WRs available at 28 just because of his size. That is an added risk that other WRs at that position don't present. Combine that with the fact that Cam tends to throw a little high and it Cook isn't worth the risk IMO.

Our QB shouldn't have to have perfect placement all the time. No other fan base except this but us.

I don't "expect" perfect ball placement, but Cam has shown a trend of missing high because of poor mechanics. So instead of drafting the best WR available, you want to draft the biggest one to make up for our QBs shortcomings. Opposed to just asking our QB to be more consistent with his ball placement. I'll take the WR that can get open at will opposed to the one that occasionally might be able to reach that poorly thrown pass the shorter guy might not get. Not to say the tall receiver can't be the best WR available, but height is way down the list of important traits for a #1 in my opinion.

62% comp rating and I think everybody can admit our WR aren't helping. So yes let's draft some WR who can make difficult catches like other teams have done for their QB.

You can't just look at college production to predict success in the NFL. Demaryius Thomas didn't break 650 yards while in college, but you gotta be careful picking small receivers... The Giants have a track record of picking receivers over 6 foot, such as Cruz 6'1, Nicks 6'1, and Randle 6'2... I would put more stock in that than Gettleman picking the best playmaker

Bad comparison. Thomas played in a triple option offense where he was only thrown 3-4 balls a game, its not  like he didnt put up huge numbers because he underachieved.. I feel like if cooks was 6 foot he would be a top 10 pick. He has the most speed, quickness, toughness, playmaking ability compared to any other wr in the draft.  overall the most complete wr minus height.

If we decide to go size, I wouldnt mind seeing us get Montavis bryant. everytime I watched Clemson play he seemed to stick out just as much, if not more than Watkins. He has size speed and potential, he can prety much do everything KB can do with better speed.

I also like OJB and Moncrief. Both have good size, speed and ball instincs who produced in the best conference in football.

Abbrederris is also another guy I wouldnt mind us drafting. For obvious reasons he might not look as flashy than others mentioned bu everytime he went up agains an elite corner he dominated. The dude is fast, great hands, great route runner and scrappy
