There's a list of our current FAs.

Their total salary in 2013: $23 million.

$21 million looks a whole lot less

We can draft a #1 WR at #28 for roughly what Lafell made this past season. Even swap.

If Gross retires, he was making 5 mil and we can find a starting LT in round 2 for about 800k. That saves 4.2 mil. Bell is gonna be released and I'm hoping the group of Kugbila, Silatolu and Bond that we can have a young and energetic core able to get the job done. Again, nothing there against the cap but it would be a Godsend to have Gross back at his '13 salary and he would be well worth the price. So the 21 drops down to about 15 with the retaining of Gross.

King and McNutt have been raved about so I'm gonna trust in DG that one of them is gonna spell Lafell and Ginn as Smitty moves into the slot and our young guys and high draft pick spread the field with Olson opening up the middle for Smitty. So no money against the 15 million there. If Smitty takes a pay cut, a couple million could be added and if he is cut, that really opens things up and means we could make better use of that deep WR class.

Drafting Tahj Boyd in the later rounds would be wise and he fits our system. He'd be on the cheap at around 500k so that saves a good chunk of what signing Derek Anderson may demand. It costs us a draft pick but if something happened to Cam he is in that same mold.

Drafting for depth at Olb with a versatile guy like Demarcus Lawrence and versatile DBs like Keith McGill or Stanley Jean-Baptiste in the later rounds could do wonders and pay big dividends down the road while picking up a true CB like Breshaud Breeland in the 3rd or 4th could shore up that backfield with Lester who is improving. Cut Godfrey and re-sign Mitchell for what you would have paid Godfrey and there is some promising signs of life without cutting into the cap for more than a couple million including 3 of our draft picks.

Gano needs to be re-signed and he'll demand around 1mil.

So, there's all 7 of our draft picks and re-signs and we're looking at shelling out around 8 million of the 21 available. That leaves 13 for Hardy if that's what he demands and we still get to keep Gross, Gano and Mitchell. If there are a few restructures and some cuts, who knows how much more that frees up for getting a deal done with Cam and Kuech.

#28 Benjamin WR

#60 Mewhort OT or Jones OT

#92 Breeland CB

#124 Lawrence OLB/DE

#156 McGill DB

#188 Tahj Boyd QB

#220 Jean-Baptiste DB

#252 Xavier Grimble TE

A lot would have to fall the right way, but it's pretty possible things could shake out this way. Just trying to look at scenarios

I just googled it and this popped up. I don't remember where I read it but I will look. Based off this tweet I am assuming I read it on the Charlotte Observer. He was quoted to saying how he didn't see a fit with the Panthers because of Cam and how he wants to start. He said something on the lines (not an exact quote) that he would not be thrilled being drafted by Carolina. He also was saying that he would definitely throw at the combine. He said both Andrew Luck and Cam Newton threw so why wouldn't he.

Brynn Renner was getting some serious love from the combine instructors. Derek Anderson 2.0

Of course Tahj wants to go somewhere he may have a chance to start. But he would be a great asset here and play for a contender in an offense that could develop him to suit his strengths.

If he doesn't want to come in and compete with the best, he maybe undraftable. Not smart Tahji, not very smart...

Taj Boyd has already said he doesn't want to be here. Don't know if I want that. Not often you hear a rookie say something like that

Unless there is a team out there needing a starting QB bad enough. Which I know there is teams needing a QB right now. But is like a half a dozen other QBs that will be drafted ahead of him for sure. So any team that drafts him. He will still end up been a back up to a QB in the league some where. Maybe even a 3rd string QB. Depending on that team QB depth. So if I was him I wouldn't be complaining about where I might be drafted. Just hope you are drafted. Pickers can't be chosers.
