If Smitty is "evaluated" and not on this team next yearn

WOW!!

Asked Bill to put a percentage on it.

@billvoth Let's put a Steve Smith percentage on this, what would you put the percentage at for him being cut? lol

@Carpanfan96 ha, i’ll put a 70% on it right now. gross retirement is a 98.

@billvoth Whoa, surprised at how high the Smith percentage is. Wow!

@Carpanfan96 yeah, but still decent wiggle room there. the main point: this is more possible than anyone has imagined. stay tuned.

The fact that he (Voth) said possible and not probable leads me to believe that he is being the ultimate journalist right now. If Smith gets cut Voth will get to say he had the scoop first.

I'm sure there have been talks about Smith taking a pay cut, but it's still really hard to infer that the Panthers are actually considering cutting Smith from the quote "we're evaluating everyone".

Guest Dark Knight

Jerry Rice was shown the door in San Francisco.

Joe Montana was thrown to the curb by San Francisco.

Brett Favre was told to go away by Green Bay.

Peyton Manning was replaced in Indy.

Emmitt Smith was cut by Dallas.

You guys who are being emotional are gonna get a dose of reality if Smith doesn't take a pay cut. Nobody is above being replaced in the NFL.

Y'all are right, Jerry Richardson will never let Steve just get sent packing. But if Steve refuses to take a cut Jerry isn't gonna let Steve just have his way & handicap the team.

Steve better tread carefully because if he thinks Dave is bluffing he'll find his poo sitting on the sidewalk.

It's hard to imagine the team without 89. He is probably everyone's favorite panther of all time, and is the best to ever put on the uniform. That being said, with all this cap hell we are in, no one is safe, and Smitty isn't a 1200 yard, 10 TD receiver anymore but gets paid VERY well.

I hope the team can resolve it with him amicably, so that he can play one more year at least before leaving on his own terms.

The Panthers without Steve Smith? Wow. Just wow. Very difficult to imagine.

Everyone of those teams also had a replacement lined up to take over for the players you mentioned above.

If we're being real, you aren't going to find a wide receiver at 28 that will be able to come in and put up the numbers in his first year that we would be losing if we cut Smith.

We cant find a WR at 28 who can get 700 yards and 4 TDs?

Not as a rookie...

Wide outs tend to struggle in their first year unless they are just incredibly NFL ready.

Smith isn't a #1, he's a #2 or slot wr now. So even if he's here the team needs someone that can be a go to guy for 1k yards and 10 td's.

Among rookies there were 4 WR's that hit 640+ yards, 9 that hit 500+, 5 that hit 50+ receptions, 10 that hit 44+ catches, Quite a few that hit 4+ touchdowns.

@billvoth Someone asked me if you were drunk, fans just can't believe that Smith would ever get cut and that he's a Panther till he retires.

His response

@Carpanfan96 shoot, neither did i till a few weeks ago. hasn’t been a lot of surprising moves over the years there.

So i'm pretty sure there's something to it, he seemed pretty surprised that the team is even considering it.
