If Smitty is "evaluated" and not on this team next yearn

WOW!!

Right...and if they're not afraid to make the hard decision to put the team in the best position then we shouldn't either...no matter who the player is.

It's hard to understand the long term ramifications of decisions until you actually begin to experience them after it's already over. I don't think there is necessarily a right or wrong here, we all know life after Steve Smith will begin sooner or later, the question is will we be putting ourselves in the best position to continue winning when it occurs? We will just have to wait, and see what Gettleman has planned.

It's hard to imagine the team without 89. He is probably everyone's favorite panther of all time, and is the best to ever put on the uniform. That being said, with all this cap hell we are in, no one is safe, and Smitty isn't a 1200 yard, 10 TD receiver anymore but gets paid VERY well.

I hope the team can resolve it with him amicably, so that he can play one more year at least before leaving on his own terms.

The Panthers without Steve Smith? Wow. Just wow. Very difficult to imagine.

Great post

Agreed. Life without Steve scares the poo out of me for many reasons. I hate that this is the first time I can "make sense" out of a scenario to cut ties.

When the Niners traded Hall of Famer Joe Montana, they had Hall of Famer Steve Young to replace him. When the Niners released Hall of Famer/GOAT Jerry Rice, they had future Hall of Famer Terrell Owens to replace him. If we cut Steve Smith, we'd have Tavarres King and Marvin McNutt to replace him - and they have a combined total of zero career catches.

There's a difference between making a hard decision and making a stupid decision.

I don't believe they would cut Steve without a legitimate plan. I've said that 5 times already.

I can see it now in years to come. What a master stroke genius move by general manager Dave Gettleman to replace H.O.F receiver Steve Smith all those years ago with then rookie and now H.O.F inductee Tavarres King.

Sarcasm sorry... But we have neglected finding Smiths replacement for far too long I honestly believe there going to do it this year and that also could mean cutting Steve and just making a clean break totally.

I said in another thread (might have been this one...they all blur together at some point...) We still haven't replaced Moose and here we are on the verge of having to replacing SS....SMDH!
