RT @ChrisVito: Sam Hinkie on whether Danny Granger gets bought out: "There's a chance for us to have a discussion."

I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to scoop him up.  It shouldn't take much to outbid anyone else that would be interested in his services, and he could be a valuable, scoring-vet presence on this team.

That being said, I'm willing to bet that his first choice would by Miami for revenge on Indiana.

It is NOT an automatic DGranger will get a buyout from Sixers. Keeping him for sign-and-trade options this summer holds appeal for Philly

But Granger clearly does not want to be in Philly and is expected to push for his release to try to work his way to Miami, OKC, SA, etc.

Injuries caught up to him and he can no longer shoot. Not to mention him wanting to go to a contender. Not seeing him as a fit here at all.

IMO, you don't forget how to shoot. Shooters can shoot forever. It could've been having his role greatly diminished in Indy, and/or he may still be dealing with chronic injuries.

I'd definitely put a bid in on him and see if he'd be interested.

We're here stuck with Ben Gordon' contract while looking at Miami trying to make another move.

How can Miami keep signing all these players (LBJ, Wade, Bosh, Allen, Beasley, Battier, Andersen, Lewis, Oden)? Other than LBJ, Wade, and Bosh are those guys playing for free or something?

Pretty much , Heck LBJ , Wade and Bosh make as much as our entire roster.

1 year deals

Oden 884 k

Lewis 1.3 m

Beasley 1 m

Jones 1 m

Douglas 1.6 m

Chalmers 4 m

Battier 3.2

Allen 3.2

2 year

Anderson 1.3 m

Haslem  4.3 m player option next year

3 year

Cole  1.1 m

Player Option next year

James 19

Bosh 19

Wade 18.5

This team will continue to work as long as guys play for cheap but eventually they are want to get paid after trying to pick up a cheap championship with the heat.

That roster would be in trouble if James left they would probably be back to the middle of the pack lower part of the east. No reason for Bosh or Wade to opt out as they are declining and might as well take the money while its theirs but James is kinda weird and could opt out for who knows what strange reasons he might have.

Next year is going to be key for this teams future.

We are going to have over 20 million to work with this free agency.

We have to score a reliable player for the next  3 years or so with this money  to go with the core we have now.

Preferably a wing scorer but the question is who is worth the big bucks ?

They can shoot forever on an open court, sure. But they lose the athleticism and skills that allow them to get good shots off against NBA caliber defenses.

He wants to play for a contender. Not us

    • Because Young is so historically bad that it just skews too far outside the normal deviations that perspective is easily lost. That or they just don't want to believe it.  The struggles last year would have been more about the infighting and poor roster building or idiot owner's hiring practices than with Stroud. He wouldn't have been as good but he wouldn't have been ruined here and the pressure was not Carr-esk if you take out the Young created portion from his playing style.  Dude is a young guy on a team coached by a Defensive guy building a good D but not building up the O in year 2 of his HC 1st time gig. Seems familiar... Go look at his output this year and not just some crappy Thursday night implosion game, I would take that in a second and never ever look back every time without a shred of doubt while eating 4 of those games a year with a giant smile on my face.
    • There is zero reason to sit him if he is ready to go.  Putting him on a shelf and attempting to protect does him no favors.
    • Stroud us nit the first QB thus franchise has missed on. He also won't be the last.
