Grade the Bobcats LAST ever trade deadline and a look to the future.

That's right, the last Bobcats trade deadline ever!

Cheers "Bobcats" you sucked at drafting, but you held your own at the trades.

B+

I thought they did a good job by not panicking.  I was really glad they didn't try to make a splashy move. It was a low-risk, low reward type of deal, the kind the Cho is getting a reputation for coming out on top.

Cho sets a line, and he holds that line without getting too emotional.  It's refreshing.  Yeah, he could have made the Evan Turner trade, but why give and asset and a contact for a guy who probably doesn't fit in long term.  Kudos to him. Sometime the best trade is the one you don't make.

Also, this deadline tells me, that much to the contrary of Proudiddy's opinion, I believe this team does have a plan and a vision.

I think the plan was never going to be solely based on drafting.  I believe the plan was going to be a individual decision based journey that kept the long term goals in mind.  I believe this is illustrated in the Big Al signing.  I didn't like it at first, I wanted to tank, and tank hard.  But, it was made with a longterm mindset.  "Let's show quality FA's that we will pay them, and sell them on the vision of this team."  Also, they were thinking, "okay, if Big Al isn't good or he gets injured, we will be in the lottery... if he is good then we can have a FA success story to share in 2014, when we clear space and have Max money."

Which brings me to the 2014-2015 Charlotte Hornets season.

2014-2015 is the coming out party for Charlotte sports. New Vision, New Players (2-3 1st round draft picks and a possible Max Level Free Agent), and New Expectations.  We will go into 2014-2015 believing not hoping we will be a top 4 team in the east.

This season was all about finishing and protecting the foundation that is and will be the 2014-2015 Charlotte Hornets.

For me, I love where this team is. Lots of money, good chemistry, and a star player who is playing out of his mind lately.

I think what this team needs now is a dynamic wing player that can score at a moments notice and be a star. Could a guy like Stevenson in Indy be possible?

Stevenson isnt exactly a scorer... he is a tremendous rebounder though

Good post. Who would you draft and want to pick up with the max?

It is so hard to tell this far away from the draft and having no clue who is available.

I will say, it is going to be a pick to take a risk with.  A pick that could be the focal point of this franchise for 10 years.

I would say an A.

I like the additions in that they compliment what the team needs.  They didn't trade away picks like I thought they would, and they didn't force a big move just to make one, so no Evan Turner or Josh Smith.

I felt Sessions slashing style and at time ball hogging could disrupt the rhythm or momentum the team had going.  There have been games where no one on the team could hit a jump shot so Gary Neal will help that.  I like that Kemba will be backed up by a true PG knows how to distribute the ball.

I can't predict if it will all work out or how long that it will take for them to develop chemistry but I like what the front office has done here.  If it does not work out like I hope I am still happy with the effort because the trade make sense.

I will give it a C+ based on what we know now. It seems like we made a move just to make a move like I had feared.

That it definitely wasn't, it improved the Bobcats biggest glaring weakness on offense. Sessions while great at getting to the hole and drawing contact was a very poor shooter from pretty much any where else on the floor. This gives the Bobcats shooters and floor spacing.

Everyone keeps acting like the Detroit pick is a guaranteed thing.

The way they played the past 2 games they have no reason to try to win and could go into serious tanking now that they could not get rid of Smith or unload Monroe for assets.

Then that pick may help us even more in 2015.

Hopefully.
