Gettlemen Combine interview

And the answer is never on your fuging roster. Thinking it is, is the reason 12-4 teams go 7-9 the next year.

It can be when your front office is run by an actual NFL talent evaluator and not, you know, a sportswriter.

It was kind of funny having Hurney, because we would always get great grades from the media for drafting and always had some big name stars on the roster, but we couldn't hold onto winning seasons because we had no depth and the majority of our draft picks were spent on media hyped guys that fell because most quality talent evaluators didn't think they had enough to make an impact.

It was refreshing last year's draft to have all those WTF picks (TWO DTs!? A late round linebacker and RB!? UGH!) and aside from Barner and Kugbila (who could be quite good for all we know) we got great value out of all our picks.

That moment when the huddle gets butthurt Gettleman doesn't draft a WR to improve their madden rosters. It sounds like priority is OL then CB at 28. If somebody is really off that they don't want, they might look at WR. I guess it really depends on free agency. All my trust goes in him in picking the right player. You could see a potential franchise OL or CB drop to 28, someone always does.

When I first read "Smitty is a part of the evaluation process" my first thought was he'll have input on potential WRs (FA or draft) not that Gettleman was evaluating his place on the team. I guess both are possible. I don't think there's any way JR would sign off on letting Smitty go before he's ready though.

If you have to evaluate your best fuging WR is that a sign that uhh maybe you need some talent at the position.

I believe he was saying that they are consulting Smitty on the WR position. Gathering input from various sources. I don't think they are trying to figure out if Smitty still has a place on the team.
