The Official NFL Combine Thread

Yeah I still don't think Fuller fits our scheme. He may have ran well, but he's a press corner. I saw him get beat deep, playing off coverage in multiple games. Unless Dennard falls to us, I really don't see us taking a 1st round corner. Verrett and Roby are probably too small for Gettleman.

Man your right on point with what I was saying. I agree Fuller is the better fit right now.

I think Roby has more upside with proper coaching. Roby really looked good today at the combine very fluid looking & they noted his flaws were due more to technique.

Verrett looked really good to me & his tape is even better. I would draft him at 28 just don't know if GMan would because of size. If we don't the 49ers or Seahawks will & that would really suck.

Agree with u if Dennard is their take him as quick as we did Star. He's my favorite CB & fits are hard nose football attitude.

Really don't think 5'11 195 is to small. Those are Roby #s

It's not just his measurables, he also got boxed out in jump ball situations. Roby's not an impossibility in the 1st. It's pretty hard to gauge just how big is 'big enough'. Verrett on the other hand...

I have no idea what you're talking about. Fuller was fantastic in zone this past season. Perhaps you're thinking of Purifoy (who's primarily a press corner). Opposing QBs completed 44% of their passes in his direction. Granted, he likes to gamble (his aggression is his weakness) but QBs generally threw away from him and when they did he was right with the receiver to make a play. When composed, Kyle leads the nation with a burn percentage of 16%. Fuller also had 10 TFLs.

He was made to play in our scheme.

I'm not talking about zone vs man. When I say off coverage, it could be off man or off zone. Here's an example:

Just kinda playing around with mock ideas... Which one do you guys like better?

1. Kyle Fuller

2. Davante Adams (not even 6'1" may still be there)

3. Brandon Thomas

4. Cody Hoffman

5. Antone Exum

6. Colt Lyerla

7. BPA

Or

1. Allen Robinson

2. Donte Moncrief

3. Craig Loston

4. James Hurst

5. BPA at corner

6. Lyerla

7. BPA

Just to clarify, I'm only assuming that Fuller would be better in press because of his size. He gets beat deep, bro. I don't care what anyone says. If he can't play press-man then all he excels at is defending against short, separation routes.

I like the 1st one. Would love if u switched Hurst for Hoffman. That would be a solid draft

he breaks on the ball so good, with no added missed steps. he would flourish in our scheme because of his play. he did get boxed out some( Wisconsin and Michigan Game) but the talent is there. size wise, compares to Revis.

the smart pros already have their minds almost or 90% made up, before the combine. the best part of the combine is not the numbers, but the face-to-face interviews. the only ones that caught my eye, was that OT form neveda, greg rob maybe special too, and i want to see the team interviews too

    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
    • Well, we got our answer on Army today.
    • Not a chance the SEC could compete with the NFL.  In the large cities that are not in the Southeast, (LA, NYC, Chicago, SF) College football is an afterthought.
