Panthers possibly 28 million under the cap

Few people actually have a clue on how the salary cap really works, and none of them post on the huddle.

I'll wait for the official figures, and simply hope they come anywhere close to this one.

Even if we don't "really" know, we still do have a general idea of what the cap figures are and how much space there is.

The stuff on Spotrac and Overthecap might not be perfect to the cents but it is definitely in the right vicinity.

Pretty sure that number posted did not factor in the dead money at all. I mean Gettleman is saying we are cap challenged for a reason(and not not a smokescreen ;) )

If we did have this much room, then signing Hardy wouldn't really be too much of  a dificulty, to tag him in the very least.

Could you imagine Hurney with $28 million to play with...he'd sign Barner to $100 million 5 year deal.

So out of the roughly 700 posts I've made...THIS is one I get a whole pie for?  Fuggin' Huddle.  You're a persnickity group of fuggers aren't ya. Hugs.

I don't think anyone here cares who you trust... You don't know poo.

Hey that's fine. Just don't get overly excited when our GM tells you we're capped challenged.

I'd take his word over David Newton who was writing about NASCAR until he was reassigned to the Panthers at the beginning of last season. Everyone other writer is saying we're strapped for cash and this random bit comes out with a number far higher than everyone else... chances are he did the math wrong.

Newton didn't exactly come out of nowhere. He covered the Panthers from 1995-2006, and was the one who broke the steroid story years ago.

Well the problem is many times a "general idea" varies greatly depending on the sources of which said huddler is relying for their information. Honestly, with how many different ways the salary cap can be manipulated, I think people needlessly obsess over it too much anyways.

The fact alone that it isn't Marty Hurney handing out contracts here anymore gives us a substantial boost as well.
