Panthers possibly 28 million under the cap

I've spent all offseason hearing we have 11-12 mil cap space and a Hardy tag would take 10-12 mil. Now we're at 28 mil? Can someone smarter than me explain what is going on? *mindblown*

We're better off cap wise than last year but we also have a lot more free agents, the most in the NFL I believe. Some of those guys that we signed for the bare minimum last year, like Ginn and Mitchell, are going to want to get paid now and Hardy sure as hell isn't re-signing for 800K or whatever he was making. Don't be surprised if there's a lot of turnover, letting guys sign huge contracts elsewhere and bringing in different guys on more cap friendly deals.

my best guess is 18-22 million, but I dont know about incentives, roster bonuses, workout bonus, probowl bonus etc etc. there use to be roster tricks for special team stuff. example sign a OL and if he got 6 special team tackles= 100, 000 bonus. if not well that went to cap space, but i dont know if the new deal allows those tricks any more.... many others as well

 

 

beason and andserson are about 11 in dead moneyz, thats gone next year(beason maybe only 3 million next or none at all) thats a poo ton.

godfrey cut depends if hes pre june cut. if pre june 1st, hes around 5 million is saving(i believe), but 2+ million dead. if just cut, its 2 million saving, no idea the dead. pre-june allows the dead money to be spilt into two years, just cut you take take it all this year, but free next. james anderson was a pre-june cut, he was about 2.7 dead this year and another 3+ dead in 2014

 

 

godfrey was on radio and he seemed VERY sure he was going to be a 2014 panther, if not he is playing some where. if he willing to restructure....... well that can worded so many ways to save money and he'll play for 1.5 prove it deal. i have no idea whats going to happen, my guess is don dave tells godfrey you can either sign a team friendly deal or we have no other choice but to cut you ala pre-june 1st.

Spotrac doesnt factor in the carry-over which is any where form 8-12 million added to the projected 2014 cap number. still too many variables like i listed above, that could move the number anywhere form -/+ 1-7 million.
