How many great players do the Panthers have?

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

You overran your quota

haha to narrow it down: QB, LT, MLB, & DT

And I don't know how I forgot about Tolbert.

And I disagree with people saying Gross is past his prime.  He may be contemplating retirement but his play last season was some of the best of his entire career.  Also, he is a major leader for the team I think any franchise would love to have.  We've been fortunate to have such a stud at the blind side whether it be St. Pierre or Newton behind center. :) lol

If the context of great is league wide then we may have 2-3 players that could go almost anywhere else and start immediately with no arguments.

I'd say Cam because there are less than 10 teams that would argue their guy is better.(NE,Den,NO,Sea,SF,NYG,SD,Ind,Wash)

I'd say Luke of course, there may be even less than 5-6 teams that would think twice about him.(SF,Sea,TB)

The third option is iffy. My gut says Kalil but my head argues that you can get production there at lower costs as it's not a position of impact like QB and MLB. He is super good though.

I am going to flirt with disaster here.

Luke, Davis, CJ, and Kalil would probably start for every single team in the league.

Cam, Smith, Tolbert, and Star would start for most teams in the league.

The top 4 I would define as great, and Star, Cam, and Tolbert being just under that.....I believe that Star and Cam will both get there.

Most important positions: QB, DE/OLB (scheme), LT, DT.

Great players: Cam, Luke, Star, Johnson, Gross, Kalil, Davis, Gano, *Smitty

Almost-great: Short, Mitchell, Olsen, Wharton

Positions important for stars: QB, DT, WR(or)TE, LT, C, MLB/ILB, S

This fits the pstall baller index. Although I may drop Gross and Smitty due to age.

Steve Smith should really have his own category called "Steve Smith" haha.  He definitely is not his 25-29 y/o self but he still has a few left in the tank.

I still think Gross is a top-10 OT in the league.

Is your definition of a great player one whol could Start on ANY team in the league or just some teams in the league?  It would be difficult to say that any of our guys,  with the exception of Kuechly could/would  start on ANY  team in the league. The way I read it is the best player at that position in the NFL.
