Nick Foles, Mike Glennon

Hard to argue with Foles' numbers.

I disagree. His numbers are a direct result of that system and quite a fair amount of luck. I can't remember who the Eagles were playing (it may have been the joke Oakland game where he was handed 7 tds) but I remember one game, he threw two passes that looked like they should be easy picks but instead they went off the DB's hands and right into the WR's (Jackson on one and Cooper on the other) hands for a long touchdown. Foles is a terrible decision maker and has inconsistent accuracy (look at how terrible he was in the first Cowboys game...) Also, he was handed 2 touchdowns in the Eagles game that shouldn't have been but because of the snow they couldn't see where the out of bounds lines were. Foles' success is due solely to that of LeSean McCoy. Teams stack the box for McCoy thus leaving Philly's nice play makers in mismatches on the outside, giving Foles easy completions and touchdowns. Without McCoy, Foles sucks and without Kelly, Foles sucks. Foles will fade away, as will Kelly's success... Very soon..

Glennon I didn't see much of other than our games (against our tough defense), but there were times when I was worried about him through the air. He shows some promise, but I'm not sure he'll be their long term starter. I think having Lovie Smith is terrible for him because Smith is a terrible guy for developing QBs. I think next year Glennon's inconsistencies will keep the Bucs from seriously competing for the division.

Those are just my points of view on how things will turn out, but we'll see how they actually turn out in time.

I think when all is said and done, Glennon's ceiling is Jake Delhomme...without the fire.

Foles is a different story, though.  Admittedly, I didn't se a lot of the Eagles, but what I did see was a system and running game that opened things up for the young QB and allowed him to play not to make mistakes.  Foles also seemed to hold on to the ball too long, but that's not uncommon in a young QB.  So, bottom line, I think this year will tell the story on him.  Teams will have a chance to game plan about what their offense does with him at QB, forcing him to take more chances and step up his game.  Really, it's not all that unlike the Keapernick situation heading into last season.

I agree completely. Foles played not to make mistakes, and that worked because of McCoy drawing the defenses attention, and Kelly's game plan. Kaepernick was a similar way except add his rushing to the mix and their elite defense. Both are weak starting QBs the way I see it.

Lol anyone else willing to bet Foles gets drafted way too early in a ton of fantasy leagues next year? Both guys sort of remind me of a young Derek Anderson...tall, immobile, but great arm strength and size. I remember I thought Anderson was set for a breakout year in 2008 and I drafted him as my starting QB in 2 leagues, that worked out great.

They're just plug in guys right now. Not franchise guys. When they struggle, and they will, it will be very easy for their organization to move on from them. Foles had one of the worse game a QB could have last season against the Cowboys I think and had very lucky moments where the ball bounces on multiple defenders just to get its way in the hand of his receiver. They will go through similar problem like Schaub and Dalton. They'll do well for a season or half then the pressure of being 'the guy' will get to them.

Exactly. Foles didn't have any pressure at all either this past year or the year before. The year before, he came in when the season was already effectively over, and this season Chip Kelly was in his 1st year to take the blame for anything bad. And also having McCoy at running back in that system (which will be figured out much better) allows for any sh*tty QB to play well. Foles will struggle and the Eagles will continue to struggle until they find a real solution at QB.

Two guys with somewhat parallel paths last season.

Both were drafted in the third round (Foles in 2012, Glennon in 2013). Neither was expected to be a starter so early in their careers, but both became starters and saw a measure of success.  And at least for the moment, both seem likely to be the opening day starters on their respective teams next season.

The question: How good are these guys really?

Was their success legit?  Was it based in their teams' systems?  Was it just that they were unknown?  What's your take?

All I know is that their fan base have more confidence in them than the Panthers have in Newton. Especially when it come to Foles...Philly fans want him extended ASAP and think that he is their future. We have morons on here suggesting Newton should be traded if he asks for anything more than 9 million.
