I take Gettleman's "best player available" spiel with a grain of salt. His first two picks as GM happened to be at a position of high need. Great players at a position of high need. I don't believe in coincidence.

According to interviews, G-Man had a huge say in who was drafted. The final decision belonged to someone else, yes, but G-Man was sought out continuously for advice and analysis. Regardless, we have a mobile QB who likes to move around. I think Hurst makes more sense in the second or third round but I don't see the need for an OT at 28th.

I think if there's an OT sitting there that he grades 1st round and the remaining receivers and DBs on his board are graded 2nd round, he would absolutely pick the OT.

With Cam's ability to scramble, I prefer to have athletic O-linemen over just stuffing the biggest body you can out there. Ryan Kalil for example is phenomenal. Amini is really strong but [was] very athletic too.

The draft according to mike mayock is deep at both WR and OT this year, it's quite realistic for us to pick up two of each In the first four rounds of the draft although some would be in uproar about that! Hurst coul easily slip to the fourth round, this year most of the panthers positions that have been neglected for so long can be heavily boosted.
