I made this topic to, for one, bring awareness to Meningitis.  My wife and I lost our 3 year old son to Bacterial Meningitis on Jan. 26, 2014.

I just sent you a few bones via paypal from 2Max (McCullough).  God Bless you and your family through these tough times!

Plus I hit that invite button on FB for probably 30 people, so hopefully you'll get some more.

I bumped this thread because I made a gofundme account, i've been away to New Hampshire for school, and came back to some great news, that we have a good chance for a malpractice suit, however, being a disabled vet, finances are still a struggle.  I appreciate all of you here that prayed for my family as well as donated.  I would like to share this link and encourage you all to take a look at it.  Thank you all so much, you guy's have been a tremendous support for myself. Thank you again.

My son had bacterial meningitis as well when he was six months old. He had high fever and very lethargic as well. There was no pediatric doctor at the hospital we took him to on a late Saturday night so they referred us to a larger hospital. Luckily they had an awesome pediatric unit and ordered a spinal tap to be sure of what they were dealing with. When they realized it was BM they administered antibiotics right away.

He finally woke up about 12 hours later. He has severe hearing loss in both ears but we got very lucky things worked out like they did. More than likely if the first hospital had tried to treat him it would have went the same way give him Motrin and rest. Every hour you do not treat BM can have long term effects and in your case the loss of your son.

I'm truly sorry for your loss and appreciate raising awareness to other parents. If at any time your child experiences these kind of symptoms lethargic, stiff neck, high fever please ask for the required test for bacterial meningitis. So many doctors miss this and attribute this to common ailments.

You are exactly right, the first trip on Dec. 30, he had all the symptoms and they wrote it off as an ear infection, another symptom is vomiting, in our case, they only did a urine test.

In your case, i'm glad they got your son to a bigger hospital with a good pediatric unit.
