History has made me really gun shy on USC receivers.  Anybody got an argument why I shouldn't be?

"college bigot"

Is there such a term?  All USC WRs are alike?

Just pulling your chain.

does make you wary for sure.

USC wide receivers...

Florida quarterbacks...

Penn State runningbacks...

Alabama corners...

Notre Dame quarterbacks...

All positions that make me a little leary.

Based on this list our chance of getting a playmaker on offense is pretty huge. If you suppose that 1-4 players will be drafted out of those position before we pick at 28:

QB(2)

WR(3)

CB(3)

OT(4)

LB(3)

S(2)

TE(1)

DE(4) the seattle effect

DT(4) ditto

OG(1)

Total 27 picks. Based on this list, we will borderline have the 4th(optimistic) or 5th rated OT available to us. At best the 4th rated OT. Based on Myock's ranking we'll have either Zach Martin or Cyrus Kouandjio.

As for WRs, we'll either have the #3(optimistic) or 4th rated WR available for us. That would be either Evans or Benjamin

As for TE, we'll have either Ebron(optimistic) or Sefarian-Jenkins to chose from.

Unless teams go ape in drafting OTs, WRs, TEs within the first 27 picks, we should get our guy.

Rarely in a draft where teams go ape picking 5 players in one position within the first 27 picks. And all those mocks where you see 3 QBs selected consecutively ain't happening either. About 1-2 QBs pan out in most draft. So, teams will go the free agency route like KC did last year. I see both Manziel and Bortles falling outta the 1st round. Hopefully not, for our sake. And all those mocks where you see 4-5 WRs are selected before the 28th pick is crazy talk. There only 1 or 2 game changer kind of WRs in this draft. The rest will be very good contributors, so teams won't reach for them early with the thought they may get similar talent in the 2nd. The Jets will definitely pick a TE or WR in this draft. My only concern is, past the 20th pick is when teams tend to go WR and TE crazy. We need to go into this draft with the thought that we have to come out with either a franchise WR or OT.

@josephperson: Mayock thinks you can go into third or fourth round and find a starting offensive tackle in this draft. Panthers need one.

If this is the case, I hope we come out with two of them.

Love to trade back in to the second and get an extra pick

Disagree that there will only be 2 QBs since the FA QB class is absolute doodoo.  Houston and Oakland are desperate for QBs.  Jacksonville, Cleveland, and Minnesota are way beyond desperate, their front office would risk fan anarchy with no QB.  Throw in Tennessee and Arizona and I feel extremely confident in saying that at least four QBs will go before pick #28.

I agree with Mayock with ASJ over Amaro and would turn in the ASJ card now if I could.  I do agree that we will get a playmaker.

athletic as hell. was recruited to play DB out of Serra (so was Keenan Allen out of Greensboro), but Kiffin wanted him on the offense side of the ball. i think he has decent speed, around 4.4-4.5, but has great quickness. can stop and start on a dime, and has the ability to score on every play. can play inside at the slot and out. has great YAC ability. will work his tail off, excellent work ethic. does mind putting in the extra work, and comes from a tough background. both parents are deaf, and he lost 2 brothers to violence. (one was killed, and the other is locked up for killing some one.) plays with that chip, and emotion you love.

im not worried about his injuries, but he did get nicked up some this past season. had a shoulder and knee issues, but when he is healthy, he gets off (fresno st bowl game) does have the concentration drops, but the guy is a huge play maker.

To be fair, Lee is very competitive. That makes it easier for him to succeed. It at least bypasses some of my worries about USC WR's having a sense of entitlement. I'm more worried about his injuries.
