Charlotte's Front Office Dysfunction

Teams that try to stay at the bottom to get high draft picks tend to stay at the bottom.

It rarely works out.

Let's compile a list of teams and how many times they've been in the lottery from 2004-2012.

From 2004-2012.

Orlando 3 times - 2004, 2005,2006 - Title appearance built on the foundation of those drafts.

Chicago 4 times - 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008. Key drafts to build what was a consistent top 4 east team.

GSW 8 times - Key to their playoff runs and recent winning ways.

ATL - 4 times - Key to them being pretty much a winning team for the last 8 years or so.

Por - 5 times - key to them winning this season and having a bright future.

I could go on, but by just browsing I found 4 teams and a possible 5th were that repeatedly were in the lottery for multiple years in a row that made it a success in just the last 8 seasons.

It is funny when fans get on players who not putting the team first and focusing on winning. I know I do. Articles like this remind you of the brutal reality of pro sports. It is 100% a business and that kind of sucks to know that loyalty does not exist.

The cons of free agency and the salary cap.

Plus it's not like those in favor of tanking are saying they want to do it indefinitely. We've already sucked for several years and have a few nice, young pieces. Why would we risk being an a average team (8th seed with a losing record) when it's the deepest/best draft possibly ever? I don't want to lose, but we've been patient this long I think we could certainly be patient one more year to be in a better position in this draft. Hell....it's not like cheering for a team that wins less than 50% of their games is really that much fun anyway.

Higgins is obviously a Jordan lackey - but I dunno man...this whole Rich Cho thing hasn't exactly worked out the way I thought it would by now. They still aren't drafting well and the talent evaluation looks below league average. How much longer does he need..and how much longer do we (as fans) need to maybe move on from him?

And YES I do think the Bobcats sneak in as the 8th playoff seed (maybe 7th) but they will play in four games against LeBron or the Pacers and be sent home.

If Wade is still hurt I think Charlotte could steal a win against Miami.

Nah, they'll sweep the heat if Wade isn't 100%. They got no one to stop Big Al.

Shut em down, play only four.

And Charlotte has nobody to stop LeBron or Bosh, who are both better.

I mean I guess it could happen (win 1 game). They seem to play well against LBJ and company for the most part. That's how you can tell LeBron is truly one of the best ever - he inspires other teams (even scrub teams like the Bobcats have had the past few years) to give 110% and bring it when they go up against him and Miami. Players and teams want to beat him.

I'm still all in on the playoffs. Don't tank, but PLEASE don't make a fuging trade just to make one. I think Evan Turner may be a nice addition but who knows if they will even try to re-sign him.

Just get Biz on the floor to take them out with extremely hard clean fouls.

Seriously though, I think cliff could come up with something to slow one of them down if Wade isn't playing and make it an interesting series.

As crazy as it sounds I'd rather play the Pacers than the Heat. Man, that series would be a bloodbath.
