Cam said he wants all of his guys that are free agents back so there is a sense of continuity going forward into next season and wants to build off last year. Also talked about how the defense was solid and mentioned that we needed "the Kraken".

 

Florio said something about the Panthers kinda resembling the Seahawks and 49ers, and Cam responded by saying that we're in our own lane and we play Panthers football, those guys are in the same division so its not worth it to compare ourselves to them.

 

Asked about if he wants to get the contract extension done, he said its the job for the players to play, coaches to coach, and managers to manage. he said hes not really worried about his contract he just wants to get better for next season since Russel Wilson set the tone for young QBs.

These comments are pleasant but surprising a little. I've have always said that I would be somewhat shocked if we don't do something with Cam this year.

 

Guys that forgo obvious contract opportunities for the betterment of the team are just rare.

Cam needs to put pressure on this team to respect him and invest on the offense with high draft picks before signing that long term deal. Even if it means trading down. He should play out the 2014 and see how those picks pan out. It's almost 4 seasons without a franchise LT and WR on this team. That needs to stop.
