Munnerlyn's agent meeting with Panthers next week

because i'm lazy, copy and paste from another thread about capt.

??? he was one of the better DBs in the game this last year. 6 sacks and 2 pick 6s led all DBs in the NFL.

in the slot, he was one of 22 CBs in the slot more than 250 times but he had a 79.9 passer rating there (which was 9th in the league) and in all his 992 snaps this past year he didn't allow one TD. for a guy that supposedly gets picked on a lot, that ain't bad at all.

in 2012 he had another year with 2 pick 6s and he had only 3 completions of 20+ yards out of 87 targets.

i could go on, but you'd probably nit pick stats trying to prove that this little guy just can't cut it with the big boys, but he's absolutely proved he can.

he is a big play guy and a solid DB as good as anyone.

he's not been the problem nor would he be the problem going into next year.

i love the idea of a big corner, but munnerlyn has been big for us.

i'm predicting a deal will be done....3 years, $2.5-3mil/year with $2mil signing bonus

same type deal will be done for mitchell as well.

both guys produced big for us last year and provided a lot of fire on the field. i think it's a respectable offer, esp. considering the market will be just as or more crowded as last year.

Because he can't cover sh**. Just like every other CB we have. He is good at blitzes and tackles. However that's not the main description of a CB. If he wants to stay he is going to have to realize he can't be paid like a starter. Judging by his attitude, I'm not sure he would be willing to take less than starter money.

Yeah, what would Rivera, the guy who said he was one of the best NB's in the league know?

He sucks!!1!11!!

Honestly Munnerlyn might be the best NB in the NFL, if you combine his blitzing skills, coverage skills in the slot and big play ability... It's exactly what you look for in a NB.

That was sort of where I was headed.

If you think we need to get better, even with Hardy, how much more without him?  Signing back the same guys make you better?

when the front couldn't get pressure on the QB we were dead in the water. I have been wanting to get better at CB for 3 years. We needed to replace Gamble with a like skilled DB then. We have neglected the secondary for way too long and we have merely accumulated depth but no real starting caliber DB's.

Id save the money on both hardy and munnerlyn and go play at Alteraun Verner, it's clear hardy is gone and munnerlyn wants more money than he's prob worth, look last year he tested FA nobody wanted him, he's a real poor corner but I'm ok with him on a cheap 2year contract for him to play nickel but nothing more than that.

    • It's not good to leave any netminder having a bad night out there, not fair to them, not fair to the skaters still trying to win the game It's classless and shows a lack of respect, for them has a player and a human being, you aren't gaining anything, you aren't learning anything , except they just don't have it that night. I don't care if it's a multiple Vezina Winner, or a 3rd string back up, don't leave them out there to shame themselves and the rest of the team  What if Lavi left Cam in when he didn't have it, and Rod had to skate knowing he essentially has an open net at his end of the ice, would he enjoy that ?
    • If they draft Stewart at 8th, I will ask @Mr. Scot for a list of GMs and might as well ask for HC too.....
    • I can't for the life of me figure out what people are seeing in Stewart on tape. If he can't just simply run around or through the OL in front of him, he's cooked. I don't see any actual moves. If he doesn't win on sheet athleticism at the point of contact he's nullified. I don't know if I've ever seen him actually beat a block once engaged. Then, even if he just blasts right past or through the OL and has a clean path to the ball it's like he's blind. He can't find the ball. He's like a bottle rocket. Yeah, he takes off fast but he's just going to go fast in a general direction. There will be no course correction. I watched quite a bit on him just because of his perceived draft evaluation and because of the wild discrepancy between measurables and production. Watch him play and it all makes since. He's a god tier physical specimen who just happens to be playing football. I don't see a football player. People need to stop falling in love with the potential and start realizing why the potential isn't translating.
